MEB Diabetes insipidus

Hello,

I have been in the US Air Force for 12 years now. I was diagnosed with diabetes insipidus last year, today when I left the clinic the provider said that she would recommend me for MEB, because of the diabetes insipidus I can' deploy she mentioned. My condition is better with the medicine and I mentioned that, she called me and spoke to me on the phone of her decision after I left the clinic. The thing here is that I don't want to get MEB and I will fight it I mentioned to her. I have been diagnosed also for PTSD (Depression, Anxiety) for my 3 combat tours to Iraq/Afghanistan. I received treatment for those symptoms and been better with treatment and time. I was wounded in Iraq and don't have any negative documents on my military records. Is there anything that I can do to fight this and remain in the service? thank you.

Being MEB'd does not equal the end of your active service. I was MEBd ten years ago. I got help from my doc and my wing/cc and was able to stay five+ years longer before my health went south. During the MEB your commander will be asked to sign a letter about your abilities. Ask your CC to push up for signature. Having worked at MAJCOM, I assure you wing/cc's have clout in everything affecting their wing.

Another thing you can do is volunteer for deployment. The gaining COCOM/SG has a process. In your case a deployment to a location with a hospital ought to be waiverable -assuming your are not a brittle diabetic.
