Hey everyone,
TL;DR is that I'm on the path to getting a Lupus diagnosis, but my goal is to be RETAINED by the service. I am a 6 year O-3 in an undermanned career field. My career field is 100% a desk job.
I've been trying to learn about the PEBLO/MEB process, but don't have a great understanding of everything yet. My dilemma is that my Lupus symptoms are pretty severe, but I am 100% able to do my job and wish to be retained. If I am not retained, my hope is to get the full disability allotted to the condition. I'm sure some will disagree with that thought process, but even if I were to be eligible for 100% disability I would much rather be retained than take that.
My question is: how would one smartly navigate this process? My greatest fear is screwing up and somehow both getting medically retired but also receiving less than the full amount for the condition because I "downplayed" my current condition. Can I be honest about my symptoms and still reasonably influence a retention decision?
I appreciate any and all advice!
