I am a Air National Guardsman currently receiving benefits and treatment form the VA. My Medical Sq. wants to put me in for an MEB, but does not have anything to give to the VA to make the request for opinions. Anyone ever heard of the VA providing letters for supporting documentation for an MEB, and if so will they do it? I'm already being seen by the VA for the conditions of anxiety and depression, Planters Factitious (Bilateral) requiring joint fusions in each foot, Sleep Apnea, and connected spinal and nerve issues. I'm currently 90% service connected disabled, and need an unfit to be retired. This should have been done a year ago when I was an active guard reservist (AGR), but due to command influence on medical I kept being found fit for duty by National Guard Bureau. this time we want this to proceed past that roadblock (with statements and documentation that states the opposite of the impact statement). Well the VA states I haven't been in their care long enough and I haven't sought out enough treatment! They Changed my meds, gave disability rating, but cannot do a fit/unfit for duty letter? WTF! I work a job (struggle and unhappy thanks to the conditions I have) that I kill all my time available off every 3 months to go back to a unit to which I feel I was fired from my full time AGR job (15 Active Years total for those not following my posts) at due to the VA Rated conditions this creates additional problems - Paranoia, suspicion, depression and anxiety ramped to max every time I go back! Constantly in fear of taking another knife in the back by them. I have now 2 years of performance reports that state I'm not following standards, but the original impact statement from the first year that says I can do my job. So I don't have time available from my civilian job to go get the treatment I probably need, and now I'm probably going to be found fit for duty... again. I just want this nightmare to be over and move on with my life!
MEB is not usually the first line of thinking, Treatment to resolve or stabilize a conditions is the usually the first actions. An unfitting condition is a DoD decision and usually based on a C&P exam in concert with command input. During an MEB it is the responsibility of the service to gather data about your condition.
Long story. Look at my post in AGR issues. I was found Fit for duty through the irilo process twice but not deployable.... Lost my AGR position with over 15 years active duty time due to said conditions.... Commanders impact statement said I could do my job but an EPR for the same year says I'm not meeting standards and I'm a discipline issue (2017 and now 2018). Now I'm under an annual review of my ALC code 3.... One of those should have been med boarded but wasn't....
Updates: 1. Still nothing from Wing commander or anything.... I think this has been swept under the rug. IG Useless. 2. Provided my case to Congressman Brooks's office here in Alabama for looking in to the issues in this situation. 3. My unit keeps asking more documents for the profile renewal.... I've given them all I have and still not enough! 4. Finally saw A VA podiatrist and he stated I should be able to run, and took a look at my feet and found out the Foot fusion that was done 3 years ago on the left foot didn't take, and they will not do the plate and screws method since I have a history of non unions... so I have one fused and one they wont treat.... um there goes most of the physical requirements.... end Rant.

1.Last 422 Expired 30 Jun 19 and "Waiver"
2. 20 Aug 19 - Medical POC stated writing up package for NGB
3. 21 Aug 19 - I received a statement of selection (non-duty DES)and I elected Desire Entry in to DES (I'm already SC with the VA at 90%) this is supposedly for fitness only.... ( guess I was supposed to also have this in 2017 and 2018 for the last 2 attempts where I was found fit. I honestly don't ever remember seeing this.) I have signed and submitted back.
