I'm going through a MEB at 17yrs & 10months and want to stay in to make it to 20. Does anyone have a example/templet of a letter of exception?
Unfortunately, I don't have an example for you. But, in my experience, the Commander's Impact Statement and the NARSUMs from your providers seem to hold the most weight. If you want to be retained, please have a talk with your commander and stress that fact. Hopefully he/she will recommend retaining you. Same with your PCM.I'm going through a MEB at 17yrs & 10months and want to stay in to make it to 20. Does anyone have a example/templet of a letter of exception?
i was going thru the exact same thing, if you are found unfit by the informal board you can appeal to the formal board, but from what i'm told very RARELY do they reverse the informal board. Once you appeal to the formal board you can contact the ODC and see what they say, or in my case i was not going to be returned to duty so I had to accept the findings and appeal for LAS which i was just approved this past Monday. LAS is Limited Assignment Status that allows airmen in to stay on active duty even tho found unfit for duty and allows them to stay till 20. As stated above in order for them to even consider you for LAS you have to have the commanders impact statement saying retain you.I'm going through a MEB at 17yrs & 10months and want to stay in to make it to 20. My husband has applied for LAS in mid June. He still hasn’t heard anything back yet. How long did it take for you to get your response? He will be at retirement 1 January and should go on terminal leave in end of September.i was going thru the exact same thing, if you are found unfit by the informal board you can appeal to the formal board, but from what i'm told very RARELY do they reverse the informal board. I thought I responded to your post but I made a response on the board, mine took a month. That's what the ODC also said for a timeline but depends on how many cases they have and also like always, people going on leave, TDY, etc. I applied in Feb and was approved in March and I just talked to another who applied in June and it took about 6-7 weeks for it to get approved. Pretty much everyone said that's once you hit 19 you should be alright, also my lawyer at the ODC said she had never heard of a package with someone over 19 yrs coming back denied. My husband has applied for LAS in mid June. Thanks for the information. It has been two months. No word. His commander is gonna start making calls. Just weird cause he should start is terminal just shy of 6 weeks. Very frustrating that the Air Force does everything slow unless you want it, then they are fast.I thought I responded to your post but I made a response on the board, mine took a month.
