IPEB VA Rating notification question

I'm at the IPEB stage of the game, and have been sitting on the VA C&P disability claim in EBenefits that has shown "complete" for three weeks now. I haven't heard a word from my PEBLO yet, and each day that goes by without any new info is excruciating. I've eagerly checked the mail at my house every day this year so far, only to be disappointed every day.

I'm wondering if the VA is supposed to send the proposed ratings from this claim to me as well, or does it just go to the IPEB? I had just assumed that they would. I'd really like to know the percentages that they've come up with, at least that will be some news for me.
 
If the VA has completed your rating and you are now just waiting on PEB adjudication, your VA percentage will be in the system. Ask you PEBLO to check VTA. As far as receiving your rating decision in the mail, I do not believe this happenes for those in IDES. I've been told that the VA's rating explanation would be delivered along with my PEB findings, once complete.
 
I tried that myself today and was told by my PEBLO that they wouldn't give me that information from VTA. Told me to wait and let it run it's course.
 
Unfortunately, some PEBLOs will not (although I think they all should, for the sake of keeping the service member informed). From their perspective, it may come down to liability. Until you receive your 199 or equivalent, ratings can and do sometimes change. If the PEBLO tells you one thing now and it winds up changing at some point, that's when the finger pointing starts.

Have you attempted to receive your rating proposal directly from the VA?
 
Well, the guy was very upfront with all the information. Told me the proposed rating and all and the fact that they had given it to the PEBLO about a month ago. He was also a little confused as to why the PEBLO wouldn't have told me.
 
I'm glad you were able to receive the information, nonetheless. Because PEBLOs are not required to notify you of the VA proposal until the PEB has completed their adjudication of your case, some choose not to like I mentioned above. Whether that stems from liability or laziness is another story.
 
At this point the VA's proposed rating is headed back to the PEB. The PEB is matching up the VA rating with your unfitting conditions and potentially categorizing conditions (Categories 1 through 5) based on findings of fitness and relatedness of military service. The process, however, should not last more than 2-3 weeks. 3 weeks accounts for administrative travel from the DRAS to the PEB. Call your PEBLO and get a status update.
 
Mine were sent from the VA on 13 Feb and checked into the PEB on 18 Feb. My case is being reviewed at the Washington Navy Yard, so there's been a few snow days in there I assume. Do you know which PEB your's went to Chelvie?
 
Update on mine.....as of this morning there are 3 (yes, 3) claims listed in Ebenefits as completed. I only went through one set of C&P exams back in December, and the original claim in at the bottom of the stack appears to be from that one since it lists all of the conditions claimed. The one above it only lists "IDES" in the items claimed section, so I'm assuming that one is from the IPEB asking for ratings. Both of these claims have been closed since February 5th.

The third (and newest) claim showed up in the "Open" section after the other two were closed, and it was explained to me on here that this was the one that they keep open until you give them a final DD214. Well now that one, too, is in the "Closed" section as of yesterday and I STILL have not heard a peep on what my ratings are or any word whatsoever from my PEBLO or the IPEB. Confused and wonder why one set of claims has turned into three, and why I'm completely in the dark after they've been completed.

VA on the phone says to just wait and see what the word is from the PEB. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT MY PROPOSED RATINGS ARE. I've seen my draft 356, so I know (hopefully) what it's going to say minus the ratings. Frustrating.

Strangely enough, my ebenefits did the same thing. A few weeks ago I checked, and 2 claims were closed with the one compensation claim still open. Contacted the VA and got a canned response about being in IDES (duh!) and no further documentation being needed until I am in a veteran status- needless to say, not helpful information at this stage. Around that same time my PEBLO notified my of the VA's rating, but we are still awaiting findings to be sent from the PEB.
 
Just got off the phone with the VA, again, with an operator who wasn't very friendly. Anyways, she couldn't give me proposed ratings, again, but did say that the regional office in Providence(?)(I'm out west) sent out a letter to my home address yesterday. So back to checking my mailbox, again, and playing the waiting game......
 
So Chuckie, weird thing, my ebennies looked like yours and closed an IDES on 5 Feb 15, but kept one open. I got officially notified of both DoD and VA yesterday afternoon now. Maybe your info is coming down the pipe. Also, I got nothing in the mail from the VA, all my stuff was waiting with the PEBLO.
 
Don't be alarmed where the VA is sending your records. The Navy and Air Force are required by regulation to send all of the their cases for rating determinations to the DRAS (Disability Activity Rating Site) in Providence. The Army sends their cases to the state of Washington.
 
Well, something very interesting happened tonight. Nothing in the mail from the VA, but there is a pending deposit in my bank account from them! Strange because I am still in the military (ANG).

For the cool news, I went to the online disability pay calculator and it looks like I'm at 70% VA...That's exactly what I had estimated with the raw data from the VA C&P exams and that's great news. Unless the IPEB changes their unfitting conditions on the AF Form 356 from the draft one I have a copy of, I should be at 60% DOD. (knocks on wood)

Chuckie- When you are doing your calculations, make sure you are using the whole body disability rating system. The math doesn't easily add up, for instance: 20% + 20% = 34%, which will round to 30%. Consequently, you will need another 10% to get to 40%: 20% + 20% = 34% + 10% = 40.6%. You have probably done the math correctly, but just in case.
