Hi, I recently went through an MEB in the Air Force and was found unfit for duty and recommended for TDRL with 60% rating for asthma. I was really hoping it would be PDRL and my PEBLO seemed shocked as well that it wasn’t. I requested a Formal Board in order to change it from TDRL to PDRL. Do I have any chance of changing it to PDRL? Should I have requested a formal or just taken what I was given? Will this offer still stand if they turn me down for PDRL? My PEBLO said I should go to formal to ask for PDRL but I just want some advice and reassurance as i’m really nervous and unsure of everything. Any Help is appreciated, thanks.

I forgot to add the VA rated my asthma at 60% and the DoD used that rating as well. My total VA rating for everything I claimed was 90%. I would also like to not the board said my condition was not stable which is why I received the TDRL ruling i’m assuming however at this time I am stable as my medications and condition has not changed and I could get a letter or documents from the Pulmonologist stating so.

I requested FPEB to have TDRL changed to PDRL. My FPEB attorney called me, asked me what I wanted from the board, I told him I wanted it switched and sent him a memo from my doc backing it up (i.e. not likely to change in next 5 years etc). A few days later he called back and said he talked to the board and they were going to make the change without having to convene.

So, yes it's possible. Get some documentation and be upfront with the FPEB attorney about what it is you want.
