Thanks, I actually was able to get my orders today but its pointless to even go to transitions without my DA 31

If your getting medicaly retired then you are allowed PTDY if not than PTDY is up to your commander just an FYI.

My ptdy and term leave is on the same da 31 which has to go thru BC not unit commander

I am sorry if this has been asked before but, I am about to start an MEB. Does it help it go faster if everything is documented. The reason I ask is right now my Drs are documenting and sending me to every specialist posibaly before they start the MED board. The reason I am told is to make sure that every thing is covered and to make the MED process smoth. Any advice?

Although getting everything documented and included in your records prior to your MEB is critical, it may or may not speed anything up. One of the reasons that MEBs slow down is because the DoD and VA is undermanned and the volume of MEB cases is at the highest levels in years (maybe ever). The main thing that through exams and detailed documentation will do for you is to help solidify ratings and fit vs unfit decisions.

Ok

Ok, thanks I am new to this and nervous about the whole process I have been in 13 years so this will be a big change. I am just wanting to get it done and over with. If I can't stay in then I just want to move on I hate being in limbo. This whole ordeal so far has been kinda confusing

I'm agree. Just retired on Jan 28th after almost 19 years of service, and the whole process really tried my emotions, patience and mood. Just stay as proactive as possible and keep on your PEBLO and VA MSC to keep things flowing. You will find that, although certain aspects of this process are supposed to be accomplished by others (PEBLO, etc.), you will have to take the bull by the horns and guide a lot of the process if you want it to go your way and in a timely fashion. This forum is the best place to get all your questions answered, study as much as you can handle and (if you can't find the answer)...ask away. Hang in there, stay as positive as possible and hunker down for what is typically a 6-12 month process. For me, it seemed like it an eternity while I was going through the process but now that I'm done, it's all water under the bridge and I'm moving on.:)

Thank you, I appreciate everyone's advice. If it wasn't for me getting another concusion 4 weeks ago I would be started with this whole thing.

i feel your pain, for some reason when they say it could take a year for IDES it went in one ear out the other but they are right in some cases, i finished in 7 months but they were long 7 months

Each day I sit the more I am anxiously waiting and worried. I started in May 2012 and still don't have a final decision from VA. Although I did get my PROPOSED ratings from the VA they are not final. I am retired now, PTDY complete, and waiting on the final word. I was told many times my proposed rating won't change, but it's hard for me to believe. The VA book says you should be paid withing 30 days after exiting the military. I am at 30 days and after checking EBENEFITS on a daily basis it says my claim will be finalized July 2013, not close to 30 days more like 4 months. Looking and worrying about this has my mind consumed and I can't wait until it's over.

Understood, thus do you have a favorite activity to temporarily ease your mind?

Best Wishes!

I am currently taking an online class, but all I can think about is my claim. Wife says I'm obsessed! My anxiety level is maxed out and I can barely focus on my task at hand. I am tired of being consumed by this.

Brother, I totally understand. :(

My MH clinician states my anxiety is "at the roof" although I have compounding MH issues which doesn't make the IDES case situation any better. Moreover, I have numerous physical medical conditions which unfortunately make IDES case situation more challenging.

But, overall, I am managing the situation as best as I can because I know the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process shall eventually terminate.

Best Wishes!

I feel your pain. I have lost all motivation to do school, work, etc. This is not how the process should be. And I'm sick and tired of having people in charge say "relax its just a long process". Like I'm a freaking idiot or something.

This process takes forever. I got my % back from the va February 25. But I'm still waiting to hear from the % on the DOD side

Hi i'm new here, nice to be here, but to my question. I got my unfit memo about 2 month ago and just hear a coment that if you got your unfit memo you not suppoust to do PT. Is that true? is there a regulation for it? thanks for the help!!

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Based upon my experiences, the answer is dependent on the limitation of the military service member's permanent profile.

A military service member can work and perform PT to the limit(s) of their military profile except if reassigned to the WTU. The WTU has a different mission and are directly concerned about the military service member's medical conditions.

For military service members still assigned to their organic unit, the Chain of Command needs to know the functional limitations and capabilities of the service member and adjust their MOS duties and PT accordingly in support of the permanent profile. Does this actually occur? Well, maybe or maybe not!

Moreover, if your unit is pushing you beyond the limits of your permanent profile, I suggest that you protect yourself by remaining positively proactive with informing your Chain of Command about the limitations of the permanent profile.

To that extent, it's a good idea to document the dates, times, location, and individuals you spoke with referencing the permanent profile. If your worst case scenario occurs, you want to be on the side of legal righteousness.

BTW, you will obtain more visibility for potential responses when a new thread is initiated if it's non-related to the current thread of discussion. ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Most of the posts here are being too impatient. Some folks in the IDES have been waiting alot longer than those posted here. In some cases more than a year. And then some of the same cases had to fight for over three years with their unit just to get into the IDES. Each case is different. Find something to do and wait.
