In Limbo...Need help

Hello all I was wondering how long does it take for the VA to come up with a decision. On Ebenefits its still says Preparation for decision...I was told anywhere from 2 weeks to 30 days. Its been 2 months. I am getting med board for PTSD and some other stuff. I am in Limbo cause I cant do my primary job nor my secondary job and im getting tired of just sitting around wondering whats next. Its like my life is on hold.

I am sorry you have been in limbo, but somebody gave you some incorrect information. You are actually in the longest part of the IDES process. The VA generally takes 3-6 months to do the rating, and then you will have another two weeks to a month for the PEB to do their part and send everything back to your PEBLO.

Since you can not do your job, I would strongly suggest you take this time to work on your transition plan. Resume work, networking with employers, and or getting school started. You can still use TA until the day you leave.

Kiloniner, are you in the IDES? Sounds/looks like you went to VA and started process while still active?? that's why you state getting Med Board? I would say contact your MSC, I had to Monday myself because ebenefits stated I was deliq on something, she stated that the system is not up to date. Generally if they give you a date it'll more than likely be longer and if it happens earlier take it as awesome. But if it does go longer just give your PEB or MSC a call and talk to them directly.

Like many will tell you, take a good look over the whole forum. Learn how to do serches etc, because more than likely your questions will already be answered. Good luck, God Bless and God Speed!!!

Thanks both of you. ArmyLOD your right i should have done a search first. Yes i am still active duty... pretty much sitting around playing with my thumbs since everyone is scared that all PTSD patients will snap and shoot up the place. Very annoyed yes my symptoms are server but im still a hard worker and a good human being just want to be treated like one. (sorry for the vent)

This is the reason why im getting so impatience. I just want to start my life...since i will have to start all over. the person handling my case is new and dont know what he is doing and the old guy that was handling the case here is too busy with his new job. I went to the VA in early July i had to go tdy to cali since im in Guam.

I'm somewhat in the same ordeal myself, hang in there. I started through the IDES but like everyone still playing the waiting game. KEEP you head UP Brother, as many of us are dealing with the same type people around us. I tell the ones I love Joking of course hey if I were to "snap" I'll let you know first so you can leave. The things that keep me going are the people on here and my baby girl/family. My thought is, ARMY you broke me, fix what you can and take care of me and my family. Hang in there, PM me if you need someone to talk to or vent, rant etc. Be very thankful that you can be very active, work etc. I've had 2 back surgeries and either drugged up to where I get sick everyday or stay in my recliner all day due to pain. HANG IN THERE!!!! You'll make it through it!!!

Thank man, It is good to see im not going through this alone. Even though sometimes i feel like it, I can talk to the shrink all day (including my wife who is a shrink also lucky me lol) but they dont know what really happened half the shrinks i talk to never even been deployed. Im hanging in there man and I really thank you for helping out

I dont think I would mind it so much if I was already out the military. It hurts knowing im a NCO that cant do my job so someone else has to do it

Brother, we all felt that. It was the hardest thing I ever had to deal with in my 45 years of life. I always believed strongly about leading from the front, and it hurt so bad to not be able to do it anymore. This is why when service members are injured a lot of times depression becomes a symptom of the injury. It is being invincible one day, and being human the next.

WELL SAID RANGER!!!! Thats exactly how I felt when I went out on my back surgeries and my PLT looking at me as BROKE and the COM messing with me, trying to break me mentally. I'VE NEVER needed ANY Officer or other NCO do my job/position, and seeing that they'll just replace you that fast and not even give you time to recover before trying to make a life (military) decision for you.

To that extent, it's very uninteresting being so called broken, but individuals can never comprehend the feeling until it actually happens to them!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."
