Good evening everyone, bit of a weird one here.
I was medically retired in 2020 following a combat injury. Put on TDRL, and transitioned to PDRL in 2024. I'm in the process of applying for CRSC and was initially denied for 'not meeting the criteria, service member not in a retired status.' Luckily the board got back to me (they received my retirement orders, DD214 and PDRL letter in my packet) and told me they'd hold my position in the queue, but that since I don't have a DFAS account they couldn't move forward until I obtained one.
Queue the circus of trying to figure out why I don't have one, and how to obtain it. I reached out to DFAS/Ask Retired Pay who could not help me because the request has to come from my branch of service. They said it should have been created when I was initially retired in 2020. This is slightly complicated by the fact that I'm currently in DFAS as a DoD employee, which has caused all sorts of confusion when trying to work with DFAS to get my retirement account. So I circle back to the PDRL Office and they submit my orders and PDRL letter, but since I didn't submit the initial ticket I can't view the ticket updates, and it's denied a few times for one reason or another I'm not sure. When I call DFAS to ask about the status they won't help since I'm not a retiree in their system and they can't verify me. The PDRL office only sends me the screenshot showing they submitted the ticket but won't do much else.
All of this is to say I've been waiting 60 days at this point, and wondering if there's an easier way to go about rectifying this so I can move forward with my CRSC process.
Thank you in advanced.
