People really need to call their Senators and Representatives in Washington. The magic number is 60 Senators and 290 Representatives! Please, please support this!
Quick follow-up question to my comment if anyone knows. I was looking back through some posts and this question came up. Suppose MRSA is passed. My DOD pay is around $4200.00 and my VA is at like $3900.00. What amount would I receive from DOD? The way it is now, my CRSC is just over $1000.00.
My understanding is with MRSA as law, you would receive both amounts in full and CRSC.
Tomorrow, June 22, 2022 at 1000 Hours, is the mark-up of the NDAA. I called every member of the South Carolina Congressional Delegation who is not a co-sponsor (four members). We all need to make our voices heard before tomorrow so that some of the inequities of military pay are addressed!
Yes! It was not added to the NDAA markup in the House on June 22, 2022 as I had hoped it would be, but it can still be added once the NDAA is voted on, I’m told. It can also be voted on as stand alone legislation, so it’s vitally important that we reach out to as many Senators and Representatives that are not co-sponsors yet. I tried reaching out to some Representatives in South Carolina, but if you don’t live in their Congressional Districts, their website will not allow you to Email them, but I have called all of their offices, minus one who was defeated in the June 14th, 2022 primary here in South Carolina.
We only have until July 5th, 1 PM EST to try and get Speaker Pelosi to agree to waive the PAYGO Rules to allow Amendment #98, the Major Richard Star Act, inclusion in the NDAA.

Texas Constituents of Congressman Crenshaw should know that in his own words he "does not support the Major Richard Star Act".
I talked to Congressman Crenshaw at Congressman Barr’s Veteran’s Coalition meeting. I believed because of our shared similarities in the special operations community that I may have been able to garner his support.
What I discovered left me angered and disappointed. Congressman Crenshaw stated that he was fundamentally opposed to the Major Richard Star act based on his own mantra and implicit bias. Congressman Crenshaw did not appear to take into consideration that he is a representative of his Texas constituents and should be guided by their needs.
What further bothered me was watching the faces of the men in the room who fought for years after the Vietnam war to gain benefits from the VA for their brothers and sisters in arms. It was as if old wounds had been reopened by someone they thought could potentially be an ally.

It didn't get added this is really looking bad now we have to start over trying to just get enough votes for the bills. The looming recession is going to be their next excuse to kill the bill.
It is disappointing that it did not get added to the NDAA. Not unexpected-but still frustrating. The current hope is that HR 1282, with a growing number of co-sponsors (261), will get brought to the floor for a vote.
Hopefully, persistence wears resistance.

I met him once and he was a complete asshole and didn't want to be bothered... didn't matter that we were both severely wounded in Afghanistan... he couldn't give two shits..
