IDES vs VA ratings

I have two different questions here. I was reading a post where Jason said that the Army does not have to use the same % that the VA gives in the new IDES system. My packet has been gone to the FT Lewis PEB since June 23, 2011 (the day they say they recieved it). The VA sent it back on August 19, 2011. The PEB admits recieving it on August 23, 2011. I still have not heard anything and its been two weeks. I called the VA at Tripler and the guy told me that I got a total rating of 100% with 40% for my back (my only unfitting injury) I got 50% for my bilat feet (which the podiatrist here at Tripler refused to make unfitting) 30% some adjustment disorder and several 10% items like my knee, neck, tinitus, and ankle. So my question is the Army does not have to give me 40% for my back? Also what is the likelyhood I will get re evaluated and loose my 100% from VA. I didn't expect that much but I can really use the money. Also how long do I have to wait for the PEB to return my rating? Its been 2 weeks and my peblo said it usually takes them acouple days to get it back to them after the VA is done. I wish I knew someone to call to make them get off their butts.

Under the IDES, the military does have to apply the VA rating for conditions the PEB finds unfitting.

I was told by my peblo that the PEB sent my MEB back to the VA for reconsideration. What would be reasons for them to send it back? Im worried that they the reconsideration might not be in my favor. How can I find out? My peblo says she doesnt know. I am just tired of this long wait. My meb has been gone to the Ft Lewis PEB for over 80 days.

Mike,
I have been in an MEB status since August of 2010. My NARSUM was completed last month and the MEB doctors were switched out and now my NARSUM had to be reworked. I was originally reccomended for an MEB while in germany for Narcolepsy with Cataplexy. I had two confirmed multiple sleep latency tests. Once back stateside I saw a doctor as Walter Reed and he basically trashed all of the previous findings and had my MEB stopped without any formal paperwork or anything. Funny thing was he did not lift my driving restrictions, weapon handling restrictions and he did not change my medications, keeping me on my Narcolepsy drugs. The PEBLOs at Kimbrough Medical Center at Fort Meade were completely perplexed. My Primary Care Provider jump started another MEB with a diagnosis of Anxiety Disorder NOS and OCD but Narcolepsy was not on my new permanent profile. When I went through my VA exams the Neurologist confirmed my diagnosis of Narcolepsy. My VA exams were completed in mid July. I have told my PEBLO that if Narcolepsy is not on my NARSUM that I am going to appeal on grounds that my MEB will violate the VASRD. Is there anyway to get my rating or any info from VA before I get my NARSUM, and is there anything I should be doing right now to prepare myself for what lies ahead. All I want is a 30% retirement so that I can get the medical insurance. My drugs currently are over $1000 a month and even though VA would cover them my biggest fear is that my insurance rates for my family would skyrocket because of me outside of the military. Any help would be great.

Hello Mike,

Your reply is the EXACT answer I've been searching for regarding the VA rating and PEB applying that rating to the unfitting findings. Where is there documentation to support this answer? Not that I discredit your claim, I just know a lot of viewers would love to be able to read it themselves.
