IDES vs LDES

Not sure if this is the correct section to post this. If not, I apologize and will move it if necessary!

I just finished going through the IRILO MEB process and it was decided that they were going to put me through a full MEB. I got a call from my PEBLO saying that I need to pick between going through the IDES or LDES process by this Wed, 21-SEP (she recommended I pick IDES.. luckily she's been pretty helpful in this whole process).

I haven't been able to find any good comparisons between the two. Would anybody be able to give me a short rundown of the pros/cons and which they think I should go through?

---

Little more information:

I'm being boarded for chronic headaches which are accentuated while exercising, specifically while running, though I also get really dizzy while doing the walk test. I also have had my gallbladder removed, possible plantars faciitis, a deviated septum, and sleep issues, though I am not being boarded for any of those issues. I was going to schedule a surgery for my deviated septum before the news of my formal MEB came through, so I'm not sure if I will still be able to do that? I also have a sleep study already scheduled for later this month.

I will have been USAF AD for 6 years this upcoming Nov, if that matters any.

Ninja Edit: The doctor that did my NARSUM for the IRILO MEB said that he recommended I should still be able to deploy and was able to perform my duties, however I would require an extended profile for the run/walk portions of the fitness test.

Make sure you know the DBQ's for your conditions (that's the disability questionnaire your examiner will have to fill out) and make sure you are familiar with the CFR 38 for your conditions (that's how they determine your level of disability). I have a attached a helpful spreadsheet.

Last minute bump. Currently planning to go IDES
Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

Hmm, I quite don't comprehend why the USAF is allowing a choice between the DoD IDES or DoD LDES processes at this particular point in time since you are an Active Duty service member with nearly six years of military service.

Nonetheless, I would strongly recommend being referred into the DoD IDES MEB/PEB process for sure! Take care!

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer!"

Best Wishes!
