So I've been in this process for a good two years more like four, MEB started February 2010, initial injury August 2008 surgery that November! After first med board was fast tracked and the findings were for me to have another surgery, even though the possibilities of a full recovery were unlikely, Thanks Air Force, March 2010! So I've had the other surgery and was given 6 months to recover, long story short, 11 months after surgery MEB finally began! So here are the dates......
12 Oct 2011 local board reccomended meet PEB
24 Oct 2011 Signed MEB/NARSUM
28 Oct 2011 Meet MSC
Nov 2011-Jan 2012 VA EVALS
24 Jan 2012 Package Mailed to AFPC.... Received 27 Jan
3 Feb 2012 Package meets PEB
22 Mar 2012 Package Forwarded to VA, this is where I guess I've been found unfit for duty?
23 Mar VA called for a previous question and was informed 78 day average, but I have 15 different conditions so maybe longer. By the time this is all done I'll be at 4 years of dealing with this, YAY me.
One question I do have is, if my package is forwarded to the VA, does that seriously mean UNFIT? I'm okay with that, dealing with this injury for 4 years has taken a lot out of me and my family. Any answers/suggestions are greatly appreciated! Good luck to us all!!!!!

I am roughly around the same time frame as you now. Mine arrived at AFPC 2 Feb and was found unfit on 23 March- Friday- and was told they sent their information to the VA Friday to get ratings- also informed the average is 6 weeks for the ratings to get back to AFPC.

I spoke with my MSC on Friday and the current VA time she was saying is 2-3 months. Also, I saw on another post of yours, that you talked with your case manager? Are you referring to the AFPC case manager and if so how did you contact them?

I am stationed here in San Antonio. I just walked into Wilford Hall to talk to my case manager aka PEBLO.

Update: 3 April proposed VA rating completed
3 May preliminary VA rating completed and Forwarded to AFPC.

4 years after initial injury and it's almost over. PEBLO said when AFPC caseworker updates that when they've received package, she should get a better timeline of when she'll get it. I'm pretty lucky with my PEBLO I could call her 10 times a day and she'll always look for updates!

My preliminary VA rating was forwarded to AFPC 30 April and I am still waiting for my findings..was told I would hear something by Friday. Let us know when you hear back, we are around the same time line. I know my MSC and Peblo received my preliminary proposed ratings on the 30th as well, but cannot give me information until AFPC sends down the paperwork.

rcswilson, my timeline mirrors yours almost exactly "Nov 2011-Jan 2012 VA EVALS, 24 Jan 2012 Package Mailed to AFPC..." but my PEBLO won't provide any updates whatsoever. The VA MSC liaison is also not helpful, so please keep us up to date on your case!

How were you notified/did you learn that your proposed VA ratings were completed '3 April'? I am completely in the dark as to any progress or status of my case, but if you are getting close that is very encouraging! I'm happy for you!

I did a IRIS request from VA and got the info. You can email VA and they check the process. Good luck.

Glad to hear you got something back. A quick 'vent'...I submitted a Iris request on 1 May and haven't received ANY reply to date. They tell you to expect a response within 5 business days, so I sent a follow-up on 10 May asking for a reply...today is 15 May and still nothing. Completely in the dark. For whatever it's worth I'll send another follow-up today.

It took them 2 weeks to return my IRIS inquiry as well.

Well I did get a Iris reply today. ..."As we researched your records, we determined we received your Disability Evaluation System (DES) claim on November 4, 2011, for three conditions. On March 20, 2012, it appears your DES claim was cancelled, and a claim for increase established, which is also dated November 4, 2011. However, we are unable to determine the reason for these actions. Therefore, we have forwarded a request for clarification to your regional office in Baltimore. Once we receive a reply to our request, we will contact you via this inquiry system to advise our findings."
DES claim cancelled?!...claim for increase established? I'm so freaking confused. I'll keep waiting for their follow up with add'l info, but does anyone out there have any experience with something like this?

Thanks.

Wow...I am completely confused by that too...why would it be cancelled??? I don't even want to start guessing at that...I would try to relax until you get the follow-up. Have you been found fit by any chance? The reason I ask this is because a friend of one was found fit recently and her va claim was cancelled. Other than that, I wish I had more answers for you.

ajw, I don't know my fitness determination yet. PEBLO hasn't advised, and will only tell me that he will "let me know when IPEB has made their decision". You may well be right though...if I were found fit I suppose the VA DES claim would be cancelled.

ANGCIV,
Considering our timelines match, in my opinion, I think if you were found "fit for duty" you'd know by now. The VA is not fully updated on IDES yet and a lot of the references they use are for the DES. I've been lucky and my MSC and especially my PEBLO are helpful. If you're having issues with your MSC talk with your chain of command, they are allowed to give them updates but not the particulars of your case. When I look at ebenefits I'm showing 3 different claims.... one is closed... one is "pending decision approval" and the other just shows claim received. I've had a little luck with calling the 1800 VA number, normally electing to have them call me back because the wait is so long, and them having let me know where my claim is. If they show it at a regional office, according to the IDES, you've been found "unfit". Again, just my opinion, I've been dealing with MEB/PEB since 2008 and trust me I know you're frustrated, but keep your head up and the answers will come, just not as fast as any of us would hope. Good luck and if you have any further questions, don't hesitate to ask or start a new thread or anything. We're all a little confused or discouraged at some point during the process.

Have you received your results by chance? We are on the same timeline. My benefits account also shows 3 claims exactly how you state, closed, received and pending decision approval...My MSC said the third one that opened back under Cleveland, for received, is for a secondary review. They are apparently doing many of those on the IDES cases for statistics and timelines since this process is so new. The va mailed my proposed rating on 30 April and as of today I still don't have anything.

No results yet, the board got my case back yesterday 22 May, and my PEBLO says it could be 1-2 weeks or more considering their case load.

Wow it seems as though you are REALLY close...is that a drum roll I hear? BTW, your previous advice was exactly correct and I appreciate you taking the time to share. Since my case is/has been at the regional office, according to IDES, I WAS found unfit. Finally got confirmation of this from my PEBLO. Also learned that VA had made some sort of 'coding error' and had to close my initial case and reopen another (same day) after correcting the coding. I have no idea what they're talking about but am encouraged that my case wasn't cancelled, or found 'fit'. Sounds as though you're approaching the finish line and I appreciate you sharing your experience! Keep the updates coming!
