IDES Process cant take leave?

I am just curious why I cant take leave overseas? According to my PEBLO that if I am unavailable for certain reason if VA needs me for any physical exam I will forfeit my IDES? and would be coded as non compliance and not get any VA benefits. These are currently my timeframes. I called QTC also to make sure all my C&P exams are completed and sent to VA, which they said they are only waiting for a paperwork for my last appointment.

06/25/23- Referred to PEBLO
07/07/23- Referred to VSO for VA claims
07/25/23- First Exam
09/09/23- Last Exam

Estimated timeframes--These are my calculations when I should receive or complete my paperwork..
10/01- Received completed C&P (Govt Shutdown)-

Next is PEB..

My question is, do I need to be here for PEB? What does PEB need from me that medical don't have?

Thanks again for all the help! I am just really upset and confused about this process. I know the IDES is 180-210 day process, but I don't think member cant take any leave..

I was told leave could be taken once all C&P exams were complete. What Branch are you in?

USAF, thats what my VSO told me. Its a no brainer that I need to stay and not take leave because of C&P exams, I need to be in town for any appointments.. but now my PEBLO is saying I cant take leave because VA might need me. I just called QTC and they said they are only waiting for my last appointment documentation, and might come in next week.

The process might be different for USAF. I can only speak on the process in the Navy. Sorry

Yes and no, you can as long as it doesn't affect your exam dates and as long as your PEBLO knows. I went out of the country right after my exams were completed and my PEBLO was tracking. I was on leave when I received my MEB findings, but it was local leave and I submitted everything same day. It's possible, but you have to make sure that you know where you are in the process as well as making sure everyone is tracking and can contact you as needed.
