First thank you forum Vet's! I have used this forum often and it has been both professional and effective with the progression of my MEDSEP process.

I received my findings (UNFIT/PDRL) and I feel like I'm walking toward a cliff with a blindfold on.

*How long after I accept my findings will the Navy release a message to medically retire me (I heard 60 days)?
*After my command receives the message how long until I'm officially out (I heard 45 days)?
*It's my understanding that about 90 days from accepting findings to separation... Is that accurate?

Has anyone had recent Navy experience to help me hone in a timeline to start preparing for life outside the military?
Is there anything specific that I should focus on prior to separation?

Thank you!

That’s what I was just told as I go through the process. Would also be interested in any navy input on recent cases times for separation/retirement messages. I tried to check with pers 954 to get out as early as possible but they weren’t very helpful. This is the message I got back.

“Messages/Orders are generally released within 30 days of accepting the findings.
Messages/Orders are processed once PERS 954 receive the Index from the PEB. This can take up to two weeks to distribute from the PEB to PERS 954. The Command must check message traffic.”

I am curious who at my command will be checking the message traffic as they put it

I just got the Naval message. I can see now, why it it apprx 30 days. The message released was a list of other PDRL retirees. We were all given the same EAOS day. The message was generally " Silverfox/last four/PDRL raing/ Detach from command NLT/ Retire on ____/ . The Navy obviously groups PDRL's over a course of time (30days ish) then assigns all of them the same retirement date. Ultimately, I think the correct answer is 40 days or less. My message came in 13 days. Hope that helps. Not sure who will receive you findings but admin or ops will get it.

Here is my detailed timeline. Received findings on July 2, Accepted finding on July 7, Message came in on July 16. Detach NLT Aug 9, Retire SEP 27. I have 45 days of leave and plan to use job hunting leave as well.

BEWARE!!! If you accepted your findings go talk to admin now and get your DD214 and orders rollin!!!!! PSD in millington is 60 -90 day of cutting orders.. You need your orders for the household goods move. Also, your about get hit with SBP survivor benefits plan options. If your married and your not familiar or undecided. Get informed, dont let this paperwork catch you off guard and hold up your orders. Best of luck to all you fellow vets.

Question, so I’m currently waiting on my per decision. I saw that the VA portion was completed June 2 as shown on the picture i attached. How long do you think till i get those ratings back?

Well that’s weird. My findings came in same day as yours. I signed July 6 and we haven’t received my message yet! I don’t understand that.

I am trying to understand this terminal timeline thing. What is the difference between your Detach NLT date and your actual retirement? Where are you assigned during that period and do you have to be on leave or TDY during that time?

Just a quick question how long did you wait to get the findings. I ask because my package was sent to dc at the end of May and just wondering how much longer I will have to wait? Not that it’s going on almost 50 plus days.

So my package was sent back to the pebs May 23, I was found unfit. I am still waiting on the results from the dod. How much longer I need to get out of here ASAP!

Sorry for the late response I've been traveling. I would suggest that the forum create an App that alerts me when other folks need some answers. I feel terrible if anyone was left hanging. I will try to login on my laptop more often.

The Different between Detach NLT and retirement is: Detach is when your command releases you onto TDY (house/Job hunting) and leave (typically around 45 days). The retirement date is when they officially retire you and the Navy releases you. How do they figure this timeline? I'm not sure but it's based n your leave balance. If that was the case and you had a small amount of leave then it may delay the detach NLT date. Hope that helps.

Be patient!!I wntd out soooooooo bad as well. It will happen, the more focus and emotion you put on getting out the less focus you have on life at the moment and down the road. Suppress that urgency with some healthy habits. Take advantage of TA, get some civilian certs start watering some opportunities for when your out. It will make the exit that much better!!

I started in Mid January and had results in mid July. Although I had a lot of COVID time during my process it was close to the advertised timeline of 6 months. Best of luck.

Just curious: so your detach date is 9AUG with a retire date of 27SEP because you opted to take your saved leave w/ intentions on taking PTDY?? I just completed my final C&P exam today and trying to understand this process a little better to guesstimate my dates. BUT I have 68 days of leave on the books and I intend on selling all back(if possible) or as much as I can.
