I am waiting on my ratings but just received a new diagnosis... is it too late?

I was found unfit due to my MH disqualifying condition on Nov 17 2022. My PEBLO says my case is still at the PEB but the VA says my package is in the "decision Phase". I just wanted to know if this new MH diagnosis will be considered for my ratings or if it is too late and will be overlooked.

Do they look at how your symptoms have progressed since your DBQ was submitted?

The VA? No. They only rate you on the evidence they were given in your file. If your symptoms changed significantly enough your case should/should have been recalled. You also have several options when your final results come back (i.e. VARR, appeal, etc.).

2.8. Recall of a Case from the PEB. The referring MTF commander may request to recall a case if a major change in the member’s condition occurred or a new condition is discovered. AFPC/DPFD determines whether recall is appropriate. If the service member‘s hospitalization or treatment progress appears to have not medically stabilized and the course of further recovery is not relatively predictable, or the condition is not considered to be potentially unfitting, case processing continues and the condition may be addressed by the VA upon the service member’s discharge from military service.

Didn’t mean to assume you’re Air Force, so sorry if you aren’t. Either way, as long as your mental health diagnosis's are both unfitting (versus unsuiting like personality disorders etc.) you should be fine and there are processes in place both before and after discharge/retirement to get the proper rating that reflects your symptoms.

Generally, all MH ratings roll into a single rating. So, filing a new MH claim may not change a thing.

You asked, what about new symptoms. Those symptoms may have been accounted for already.

Thank y’all for your replies, i am AF. I was told by my MSC that i could submit “evidence” for my symptoms as they have worsened and entitle me to a higher VA rating.
