I received my final rating decision letter after being medically retired and in the letter it stated two of my conditions will be reevaluated at a later date. I was in the military for 15 years and now medically retired from the navy rated at 100% due to these conditions and place on PDRL; my anxiety went through the roof when reading this VA letter because I went through the IDES process and was already evaluated by a VA doctor during my C&P exam so why would they want to lower my disability rating from an injury stemming from 10 years ago that was worsened due to a bad surgery last year that resulted in me being MED board? My question is how do I protect myself and my family by having my disability rating changed to permanent since this is obviously a temp rating for these two conditions?

PDRL is a DoD process. Despite being permanently retired from the military, some VA rating require re-evaluation. If you believe your rating don't require re-evaluation; then file and appeal with the VA. In your appeal you can request the ratings be made permanent. I did this several years ago. It took about 7 months for the VA to grant my appeal.
