I'm curious, if I do get retroactively retired, what amount of money will be backpaid to me.
Here's my situation:
Medically discharged from USAF active duty as an E-5.
I suffered a back injury, and after having a microdiscectomy and then a disc replacement L5-S1 (which was a total failure and left me with chronic pain I have been taking craploads of pain meds for ever since), I was med boarded and discharged in June 2008 at 20% and given severance. Later, the VA rated me at 80% and I've been recieving disability pay accordingly, minus the amount they keep each month to recoup the severance (such BS, but I digress.) So my question is, if the PDBR rules to up my rating and retire me, how will I be paid? I'm sure they will keep out the remainder of the severance pay, but at this point I've paid back the majority of it through my monthly checks, and by the time I expect the ruling (August 2015 will be 15 months) there will be less than 2 years left on the recoupment schedule. But will they keep out anything else? Will the fact that I have been getting VA disability affect it at all?
I'm just trying to at least get a ballpark figure on what to expect money wise, just in case I do get retired.
