Thank you; I look forward to reading of the results, especially since there were “unknowns” in your case.Absolutely Ron. When I get the exact number in the next few weeks, I'll share with the group.

1. 2148 is retired pay @ 40% ...all waived due to 100% VA compensation of >3000Ron, I need your help. Played with many different calculators and cannot figure it out.
Prior to medically retiring from the Army Reserve, I had a 20 year letter, not sure if this info is needed.
Retiree account statement says $2148. (I've attached a picture of it.)
High 3 is $4531
Medically retired at 40%
VA rated 100%
I have a spouse with one child under 18 years old
Awarded 60% CRSC
Thanks in advance!
1. 2148 is retired pay @ 40% ...all waived due to 100% VA compensation of >3000
2. 2148/0.40 = 5370 high three
3. 9 yrs 11 mo is 9.916 yrs x 0.025 = 24..79% multiplier
4. 5370 x 0.2479 = 1331.22 longevity portion of retirement pay
5. CRSC approved at 60% = $1,290.86
6. Item 5 is less than item 4 so CRSC = 1290.86
However, you said H -3 is 4531; 4531 x 40% Ret % = 1812.40. Your RAS shows 2148 gross. There seems to be an error in the data you provided, possibly the DOD @ 40% or the high three you provided.
Ron
Thanks Ron. Yes, this is why I am confused.
Ron,
You see the be the man with calculating things so thought I’d ask for your help.
1- 20 years 6 months medical retired (combat injured)
2- 90% DOD (75% for pay = $4450) **VA Waiver is $1400, which is difference between length of service % and DOD %** (Currently getting $3100 based solely off actual retirement years)
3 - 100% VA (P&T)
4- Spouse and 3 kids under 18
4 - Recently awarded 90% CRSC. Don’t think there will be any benefit but wanted assistance on calculating things prior to hearing from DFAS.
Any insight would be appreciated - Thanks!

net pay not gross pay- still havnt seen my crsc statementAssuming you are a regular retiree (i.e., 20 years active duty, regular retirement ) and have a 100% CRSC approval, your CRSC should be like mine...the exact amount of my retired pay became CRSC. SMC-s and K were also approved as Combat Related in my case.
I assume the 1551 you cited is net pay, not gross pay.
The CRSC statements will likely be on MyPay tomorrow if not today. I haven’t looked at mine in years as it dies not change except for COLAs. You should receive both VA comp and CRSC.
Ron
You’re welcome...it was interesting.Thanks Ron!
I will look at this in the morning. One comment about “ So, the Army told me that I would continue to receive my $1840 from the VA which was higher than the $1812. This is what makes it so hard to figure out CRSC for me. Then there is the RAS gross of $2148. So many variables and information. What are your thoughts?”
1. CRSC replaces part of the 1812. The 1812 was reduced by the amount of VA comp. There remains an accounting for it...it did not just disappear.
2. CRSC replaces some or all of the retired pay waived (for receipt of VA comp) for approved combat related disabilities.
Your new info changes much of the computation I did earlier.
Ron
Thanks Ron. This makes sense. The only thing I still don't seem to get my head wrapped around is that the 2148 comes from a high 3 of 5370. I know that 5370 X 40% is 2148 however, I believe that for my RAS of 2148, it is derived from 4531(actual High 3 of a W2 pay grade with over 8 years) X 50%. The only reason I believe this to be is that I got a 20 year letter and that the RAS uses the calculation of (4531 X 50%). On the other hand I am thinking that for medical retirement purposes, they used the calculation (4531 X 40%) which is 1812.Edited:

Edited to add (late Tuesday)
1. 2148 is current retired pay @ 40%(includes COLAs) ...all waived due to 100% VA compensation of >3000
2. 2148/0.40 = 5370 high three (current after application of COLAs)
3. 9 yrs 11 mo is 9.916 yrs x 0.025 = 24..79% multiplier
4. 5370 x 0.2479 = 1331.22 longevity portion of retirement pay
5. CRSC approved at 60% = $1,290.86
6. Item 5 is less than item 4 so CRSC = 1290.86
Based on the info you provided, your CURRENT CRSC (1 month) should be 1290.86
Summary for one month such as June 2019:
VA pays = 3000 +
DFAS pays = 1290.86 CRSC

Ron, I was medically retired as 40% PDRL.Pineapplehead,
Are you on the TDRL? The minimum for TDRL is 50%.
Ron
Thank you...Ron, I was medically retired as 40% PDRL.
Ron,Thank you...
Yesterday I was working three CRSC cases simultaneously...what year did you retire?
Ron
Ron, I retired in August 2018. Yes, my total retirement points is 3570 X 360 = 9.91 years.Thank you...
Yesterday I was working three CRSC cases simultaneously...what year did you retire?
Reserve service is “converted” to active service by dividing retirement points by 360.
Example: 7200 points divided by 360 = 20 years of active duty service
2.5% x 20 years = 50%
