Hello,

1. Gross retired pay 2447/0.75 = 3262.67 high three
2. All retired pay has been waived (offset by Va compensation)
3. 15.58 AD years x 0.025 = 38.95 multiplier
4. 3262.67 x 0.3895 = 1270.81 longevity portion of retirement pay
5. 1270.81 is less than the dollar amount for CRSC @ 90% spouse & 3 children under 18
6. CRSC is 1270.81 based on info you provided

High three is the average of the highest 36 months of base pay. I determined the amount by dividing your gross by the DOD percentage of 75%.

Hello,

  1. High three average base pay OR gross retired pay on DFAS RAS (indicate which is provided) Example: 3500 from DFAS RAS
  2. Precise number of active duty or active duty equivalent years and months. Example: 9 years and 3 months

Gross Retired pay : $2995.00
Active Duty: 16 years 0 months 21 days
DoD disability: 70%
Va disability: 90%; $2174.62 ; spouse and 2 children under 18
Approved CRSC rate: 50%
As the CRSC was just approved, the following week VA increased that rating to 70%; so the expected CRSC rating will be 70%

Jayson,

Situation.

Estimate.
1. 2995/0.70 = 4278.57 hi-3
2. 16 yrs AD x 0.025 = 40% multiplier
3. 4278.57 x 0.40 = 1711.43 dollar amount of longevity portion of retirement pay
4. Gross retired pay 2995 minus 2174.62 VA comp = 820.38 residual retired pgay
5. CRSC @ 70%, spouse & 2 child u/18 = 1,609.71 + 59 = 1668.71 this is your initial CRSC
6. 1668.71 minus 820.38 residual = 848.33 adjusted CRSC
7. DFAS payment each month= 820.38 + 848.33 total: 1668.71
8. VA pays the VA compensation

The CRSC @ 50% would be less.

CRSC @ 50%
Estimate.
1. 2995/0.70 = 4278.57 hi-3
2. 16 yrs AD x 0.025 = 40% multiplier
3. 4278.57 x 0.40 = 1711.43 dollar amount of longevity portion of retirement pay
4. Gross retired pay 2995 minus 2174.62 VA comp = 820.38 residual retired pgay
5. CRSC @ 50%, spouse & 2 children u/18 = 1,026.36 + 42 = 1068.36 this is your initial CRSC
6. 1068.36 minus 820.38 residual = 247.98 adjusted CRSC
7. DFAS payment each month= 820.38 + 247.98 total: 1068.36
8. VA pays the VA compensation

Hello,

Hello,

Can you provide the calculation for the info below? Thank you

$2282 RAS
18 years
60% DOD
70% VA, spouse and 3 deps or $1727
60% CRSC
1. 2282/0.60= 3803 hi-3
2. 18 yrs Active Duty x 0.025 = 45% multiplier
3. 3803 x 0.45 = 1711 dollar amount of longevity portion of retirement pay
4. Gross retired pay 2282 minus 1727 VA comp = 555 residual retired pgay
5. CRSC @ 60% spouse & 2 children u/18 = $1,290.86 + 50 = 1340.86 initial CRSC
6. 1340.86 minus 555 residual = 785.86 adjusted CRSC
7. DFAS payment each month= 555 + 785.86 total: 1340.86
8. VA comp will be paid by VA.

REF Item 2, 18 years was inferred to be active duty.

Correct active duty period is 10 years 1 day

Corrected estimate based on info not provided previously.

1. 2282/0.60= 3803 hi-3
2. 10 yrs Active Duty x 0.025 = 25 % multiplier
3. 3803 x 0.45 = 950.75 dollar amount of longevity portion of retirement pay
4. Gross retired pay 2282 minus 1727 VA comp = 555 residual retired pay
5. CRSC @ 60% spouse & 2 children u/18 = $1,290.86 + 50 = 1340.86
6. CRSC cannot exceed longevity portion of retirement pay = 950.75
7. 950.75 minus 555 residual = 395.75 adjusted CRSC
8. DFAS payment each month= 555 + 395.75 total: 950.75
9. VA comp will be paid by VA.

1. 4227 x 0.75 = 3170.25 retired pay (reduced by 3350 VA compensation; zero residual retired pay)
2. 15.667 AD yrs x 0.025 = 39.17% multiplier
3. 4227 x 0.3917 = 1655.72 longevity portion of retirement pay
4. Expected CRSC @ 50%, spouse & 1 child u/18 = 1,026.36
5. Item 4 is less than item 3 = 1026.36 CRSC payable

BTW, perfect presentation on your part.

Hello, new to the board and was hoping to get help with my calculations please. Thanks in advance!
  1. High three average base = 1088 from DFAS RAS
  2. Precise number of active duty or active duty equivalent years and months. 4 Years, 11 Months Active Duty
  3. DoD Disability percentage 50% DOD
  4. VA percentage; the amount; and number of dependents by category 100% VA; 3521.79; spouse and 3 children under 18
  5. Approved CRSC rate OR expected CRSC rate 100% CRSC approved CRSC
  6. Indicate if any of the following apply: have 20 good years for reserve retirement OR received REDUX: N/A

Hello Texas ,

I am away from home and did this on the back of a newspaper. Your CRSC should be ~267.22.

I will follow up tomorrow.

Ron

Texasboi727,

A better explanation:
  1. High three average base = 1088 from DFAS RAS [this is gross retired pay]
  6. Indicate if any of the following apply: have 20 good years for reserve retirement OR received REDUX: N/A
Estimate:
A. 1088/0.50 gross Ret Pay div by DoD = 2176 high three
B. All retired pay is offset by amount of VA compensation
C. 4.92 AD yrs x 0.025 = 12.3% multiplier
D. 2176 x 0.123 = 267.65 longevity portion of retirement pay and CRSC ceiling

CRSC: 267.65 (a few cents different from previous estimate due to rounding).

Ron

How will my CRSC back pay be calculated? I was awarded 80% CRSC married with child and served less than 20 years...thanks in advance
