Does anyone know how to get a AF 356 form corrected? My injury was not determined to be combat related by the IPEB when I was placed on the TDRL. I applied to the USAF for CRSC and was awarded it and receive CRSC pay. After my TDRL exam I was awarded permanent retirement but the 356 form still states that my injury is not combat related. How can I get this fixed? I want to accept the findings but want the 356 form to indicate my injury is combat related. Thanks

You can ask for a formal board and, in the interim, request (most likely through one of the military attorneys) that the PEB change the findings. If they do, then you can withdraw your hearing request (actually, procedurally, it may be a formal reconsideration with new findings issued). Of course, if this does not work, you will have to either have the hearing or ask to change your election and waive the hearing. Only other option I can think of is that you could apply to BCMR to have your records corrected.

Oh, but to check, are they treating your military pay as combat-related? Is it being taxed?

Thanks for responding Jason-Yes-I am receiving military pay , CRSC NON TAXED and VA. The error on my 356 form is that it says my injury is not combat related-Like I said, the original 356 form when I went on TDRL said non-combat. I applied through the Airforce for CRSC and was awarded it. I am thinking about sending my CRSC award letter with my new 356 form and noting on the 356 form it is combat related-see attached. Do you think that would work? Thanks

It might, but I am not sure if it matters. Only thing that comes to mind is Civil Service preference points, but if your pay is not taxed, I am not sure why it matters. It sounds like they are treating you as combat related already. Am I missing something?

I am going from TDRL to PDRL-same pay. I receive CRSC now. No taxes. I am just concerned that something will happen to my pay or something because the 356 says non-combat related. I guess I don't understand what happens next. Does what the 356 says matter if I am already receiving CRSC?

I don't see how it would. I also don't see why anything should change as a result of moving from TDRL to PDRL. I could be wrong, the pay enrollment/analysis/auditing part is a bit opaque (plus I have never had a reason to look into the mechanics of it). But, if they paid you right before with the same omission of combat related notation, I don't see why things would change.
