Hi there,

Just wanted to introduce myself, longtime lurker on these forums.

I've been in the MEB "process" since last June when I was told I'd need one, and am finally looking at my package going to the base-level MEB sometimes this week. -crosses fingers-

I began my journey with Idiopathic Hypersomnia, which was "upgraded" this year to Narcolepsy and am now going forward for both Narcolepsy and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, which I've had since a little after tech school. Guess that one just got lost the last six years.

Anyway, just felt like I should introduce myself since I'm on these boards at least four times a week.

Great information, thank you all who have posted and continue to post!

JJC515,

Welcome! OCD has the potential for a very high rating so be sure the PEB comes back with an accurate rating. Good luck!

Thanks!

That is something I didn't know, to me OCD is something I've just lived with the last 6 years! When they said I should have been MEB'd upon diagnosis years ago, I was blown away. So it's sorta just been tagged on the larger issue of narcolepsy.

Like everyone here I'm sure, I just can't wait for this to be over. Narcolepsy is most certainly not compatible with military service, at least at my severity level. Working 12 hours and then trying to find the energy to work out is horrible.

Thanks for the reply!

Have you met with the MEB physicians yet? Make sure to discuss any and all symptoms of every condition. Also talk about how your conditions effect all aspects of your life... work, family, etc. Remember to review your MEB packet before it is sent to the PEB. I would recommend going over it with legal counsel to make sure all conditions are listed and that they are accurately summarized.

Again good luck.

My package was sent to Randolph AFB (Informal board) on Friday. Listed Narcolepsy and OCD.

Psychiatrist said my OCD didn't effect my world-wide-qualified-ness, but physician said Narcolepsy prevented my from deploying.

Wasn't exactly happy with how they both said the conditions effected my life, personally I think they interfere a great deal more. Sadly, they doctor wouldn't change it. But both my commander's letter and my own letter state how bad it is. Commander reccomended seperation and stated how badly both are impacting my ability to work, I asked for seperation/retirement.

I hope it goes well! Peblo said to expect about a month and a half for an answer.
