Got my letter today with my PDBR results. Good News!!

I received my letter today from the PDBR and they raised me from 10% to 30% permanent. Needless to say, I'm happy and surprised at the same time. Also, my docket number was 365 and I submitted my DD-294 back in May 2009. I hope this helps someone who has a number close to mine. I wasn't expecting this, but back when I found the link on military.com and this forum I decided to give it a try and low and behold I'm officially retired. I'm trying to figure out my next steps and was told in my letter I should receive some information in regards to benefits,etc. I will look around the site and see what others did to get their ID cards and stuff. If anyone has any information to help me with the next step I would appreciate it. Also, I will provide some information to help others that may have questions in regards to my case. I'm glad I can close this chapter in my life.
 
Congratulations! I had a recent case where the member was retired from the PDBR and after they sent me the letter announcing the findings, I called and was told that it would take them additional time (two months is what they said) to make the corrections, issue new DD214, etc. I know this is not much help, I would just not be surprised if it is a few months till you have DD214 in hand. That said, I would think you might be able to contact ID section at your nearest base and see if you can enroll in DEERS (I think the issue will turn on what service you are in and how the PDBR or your service updates your information in personnel system database). If you figure out how to negotiate this last part, it would be great if you posted the steps you took.

Thanks for the post. I will call the ID card section at Walter Reed where I was discharged and see what they say on Monday. I'm expecting confusion when I call them. I may just stop by and walk in. My next question is the confusion about the severance pay I received. I've been reading some things, but don't have concrete information. I'm curious if I will be paying back any money out of my pocket or will the VA continue to withhold from my disability compensation?

Congratulations on your retirement! It is great to see the system work the right way. I haven't been following the on-going dilemma concerning the severance pay/VA withholding, but it sounds like it will be a novel, unforeseen issue (although, it should have been a clearly foreseeable issue) for the VA/DoD to deal with.

How do you determine your docket number or packet (confused on this). The docket information that was on the letter that i received states the following: PD-2010-01184. I assume my lucky number is 1184 (correct me if I am wrong). Does the PDBR go in order of cases or is based on when they receive all the information?

Yes, you are docket number 1184. I would assume since I'm no expert that they will go in order of the packets received. I waited a year and a half for results, but I think I was in the middle of the PTSD issues that was going on with the board, thus slowing things down for the right reason. I will keep everyone posted on how things go. I know my wife is ready to shop in the Commissary again,lol. Thanks for the posts and I will help out when I get more information.
 
Ralphmac/Jason, is there a way to find out what cases they are working. Is it posted or do you call in and ask....just curious!!
 
My experience has been that the numbers only tell you roughly in what order they received the application. From there, things progress differently based on the complexity of the issues, records submitted, if they request advisory opinions and if they need to get additional information or comments from the applicant. I have seen low numbers take a long time and high numbers go rather quickly. My most recent case took 18 months for them to decide. My fastest case returned a response in 7 months. From my view, the cases were not that different in complexity. Also, they are having to respond to Sabo case remands from the Court of Federal Claims, which are expedited reviews taking precedence over applications filed directly. This must be slowing things down.

I suppose you could call, but normally they can only tell you where the case is and would not be able to tell you how soon it might take the board to act or the Service Secretary to review and accept or deny the recommendation.
 
Congratulations on your disability retirement! I am a part of the Sabo lawsuit and I filed as soon as I was notified which was around March of this year. I have been notified that they have all my supporting paperwork and now they need to make a decision. I was told by the PDBR office that they are trying to have all the lawsuit packets completed within a year, but I think this is an optimistic goal. Good luck to everyone else trying to get their due compensation from the DoD.

Hopefully you will get a resolution soon. There was a time I was just living life and never even thought about my packet. I guess that's what got me through this last year and a half of waiting? Then all of a sudden I got the letter when I least expected it, and early Christmas present I like to say. Good luck to you and keep us posted.

We are on the same boat. Got my retirement done (blue Id Card) 3 weeks ago. Though they screw up on my retirement certificate. I have a number here for you of the Army Physical Disability Agency in DC. 202-782-1996 the name of POC is Ms. Beth Boyd. I hope you will get retired. the one i'm trying to solve now is if I'm entitled to get a backpay from the army (retired pay) since i paid off the severance the VA recoupfrom my pension. Keep in Touch!

Btw, Ft. Carson was my last duty station....Castle Rock is a nice Place!

Hows is going? How long did it take from the time you got your PDBR results to get your retirement certificate, updated DD-214, ID, etc? Let me know?

It took about a month. My Advice to you are when you receive a letter from the Army PDA about a week call your last duty station retirement/transition unit. See if they have have your retired orders in there system. From there, You can call the Army PDA also to ask if they can send you a copy of your retired orders. Make sure to ask them if they have your status in the systems as retired. So you can get your ID card.

Thanks, I spoke with Ms. Boyd this morning and there has been nothing put in the system yet. Since I just got the letter last week and of course Thanksgiving, the process is most likely going to be slow through the holidays. She did tell me to call back next Monday and check. I got out at Walter Reed, so she told me we can hand carry my orders to the ID card section. I'll post when I receive more news.

After three and a half years I have finally received relief from the PDBR by way of the Sabo PTSD Lawsuit!!! The date of my letter is December 27, 2010 and the PDBR has ruled that I am due a 50% disability retirement. I just opened the letter because sometimes I do not get around to picking up my mail for a week or so. It's been a long hard road of waiting and filing paperwork but the system finally worked for me. The question I have for any of you who have gone through the process is what should I do come Monday morning? Should I call about my pay, ID card, and Tricare benefits? Should I just wait it out awhile? What have any of you found that is the best course of action?

However, I have stayed in touch with the Physical Disbaility Agency to find out what has been going on. I was told that I do show up in the system and my orders should be done soon. I'm expecting my packet to be completed in the next two weeks. I would place a phone call to the Physical Disbaility Agency. Her name is Mrs.Boyd 202-782-1996 and she should be able to help.

Got my packet with my orders today. It took about a month and a half to go from getting letter from PDBR to getting orders. Keep in mind, this was over the Holidays as well. Also, I bugged the PDA about every week in a nice way,lol. Does anyone do we get a flag and all the other stuff that you would get at a regular retirement? I'll post more when I get my ID cards etc.
