Hello! I am a SrA 3 years in service and am facing a med board for gestational epilepsy. I became pregnant with my first child in July of 2017 and had my first seizure shortly after. At the peak of my pregnancy I was having multiple a day but was not diagnosed until after delivery in March 2018. Seizures stopped and life returned to it was before. I am on no profiles, have no duty limiting conditions and have been recommended for retention by my specialist, primary caregiver and commander. My neurologist did not even recommend my removal from flying status. I became pregnant again January 2019 and delivered September 2019 while medicated to prevent seizures and had no issues through the entire pregnancy until my last 3 weeks due to titration issues that again were overlooked due to medical negligence. But I was not affected by this anymore than someone with gestational diabetes or preeclampsia would be.
I outperform most of my peers, have plenty of volunteer hours, am working up to PT standards (I am still exempt from official testing for 1 year after delivery) etc.
I don’t know what to expect for this case because although my condition is pregnancy related it is pretty serious. Anyone able to provide any insight?
thanks in advance!
