Hello,
Just wondering out of curiosity - I understand that one of the primary factors in a successful claim is a diagnosis.
If the C&P examiner checks the associated boxes on the DBQ - generally in Section 1 - does that count as a diagnosis, or is that simply the examiner acknowledging that there is a diagnosis on file for the individual?
Primarily, I'm asking regarding one of my DQBs. I don't recall ever receiving a diagnosis for either of my shoulders. I *may* have many years ago, but if so, I have no memory of it. I only recall that I've reported shoulder pain multiple times over the years. However, the C&P examiner did check the boxes on the DBQ that I did have diagnoses for each shoulder, specifically "shoulder strain" and "rotator cuff tendonitis". There are no X-rays or MRIs for my shoulders, so I'm not entirely sure how the examiner determined that. I simply let him know that it's painful to raise them above my head, and so he checked those diagnosis boxes.
Do VA raters accept the C&P exam as a diagnosis?
Shaun
