Found Fit For Duty

I am at 18yrs...
I am on Leave and my PEBLO just called me stating that "I WAS FOUND FIT FOR DUTY"

I know that this means that MEB stops and that they think I am well enough physically to continue the rest of my career blah blah blah...

What happens now with everything I was diagnosed with?
What do I do about claiming this at retirement?
Do I stiil get payed for all my diagnosis?

I am so confused and upset that I really do not know what to ask or if I am asking the correct questions.

Please HELP!

My PEBLO told me that if I request a FPEB then my COAD(Continuation On Active Duty) may not be approved. Which in my case have a great case since I am 42A and Just got done with 4yrs of recruiting duty.

Please keep helping me with suggestions.

Thank you

Do you have a problem staying until 20... Qualifying for CRDP can be a very big deal if you have a high VA rating. And yes, you can claim all of these conditions at retirement.

Mike,
Thank you! No I do not have an issue staying 20. My goal is to retire. It states that in order to qualify for CRDP you have to have a VA disability Rating. Since I have been found Fit For Duty my questions are:

1. If I can do this before retiring then I would go for The Quick Start Pre-Discharge Program one I reach less then 60 days. So from this point since I have been found FIT FOR DUTY, how do I receive a VA Disability Rating?

2. I already turned in my application in so can I still continue to file for Social Security?
3. Can I still file for Compensation Pay.
4. Can I still file for Combat Related Pay?

Mike,
Also, should I question "FIT FOR DUTY" and ask my PEBLO about "Fit By Presumption"?

It should not have been fit by presumption w/o an approved retirement request.

Yes, you can file for VA as part of the retirement process. I was found fit by my PEB and subsequently retired for length of service a year later. I filed for VA on the way out and have been rated 100% P&T from the date of my retirement. Check into the benefits delivered at discharge program that allows you to file for VA 9-6 month out from retirement.

I can't answer the SS question.

Mike,
Understood...
So now that they "found me Fit" I am going through the retirement mode, Do we get a percentage from the VA and the Army or is it just VA and Retirement?

What is the differece when claiming your diagnosis through MEB verses at retirement?

CRDP allows for your length of service (LOS) retirement plus VA compensation. You will receive your normal retirement amount plus whatever VA amount associated with your VA %.

You will have to fill out your VA claims again. You will simply reclaim everything you have already, add anything missed, and anything new between now and then.

CRSC (combat related) will be applied for after you're retired. You can still continue with your SSDI application. Receipt of military pay does not prevent receiving SSDI benefits. You must prove your inability to be gainfully employed.

thank you so much. I just thought that I would get a
% from VA + a % from army + retirement.

is it true that I can start claiming this as early as 9 months prior to retirement?

Here is what happens when your MEB'd with 20 years or more.

I received 80% from the AF with a max pay by DoD of 75%. When the VA kicks in my DoD pay decreased to what I earned. Lets say I got out right at 20 years and now receive 50% DoD. My Va at current is paying me 90% but they really screwed it up. So by this example I'm receiving 50% DoD and 90% VA.

Assuming I had just retired, I would have gotten my 50% DoD and 90% VA. It would have worked out the same.

SSDI will most likely be denied because you were found fit for duty. I am guessing here but I'm thinking you are duty your MOS or something appropriate to your rank.

I really don't know how the CRCS works so I can't help there.

You will get retirement based off your length of service (2.5% per year). You will get VA based off your VA %. The VA will offset your DoD retirement dollar for dollar. That offset can be restored in part or in whole by CRDP or CRSC. CRDP is automatic and requires a VA rating of 50% or more. CRSC requires combat related conditions and you must apply for CRSC. CRDP is taxable and CRSC in non taxable. You cannot have both CRDP and CRSC so if you are eligible for both, you must decide which is the better option for you.

Successful award of SSA SSDI benefits is not based upon any fitness determination by the military services; the SSA DDS is the responsible agency charged with the functional responsibility for SSDI medical eligibility determination. ;)

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!
