Fort Lewis Timeline Questions

At first I was very skeptical about my PEBLO, but she has been awesome and I only wish everyone had that same experience. The major problems I have had were all on the medical side but after a lot of hard work on my end and my PEBLO, things eventually got better. Now only if the VA could get their act together. How is your process coming along Shel81? I know we were on about the same timeline the last I had heard.

Im still on hold with the VA my packet was sent to the on the 16th of May so I hope I hear something back by the end of next month. If not then I know I have to hunker down for the long 90 wait. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can be on terminal leave in Aug. Have you gotten any word on your progress with the VA. Let me know because I can gage my time by yours and vice versa.

Nothing new other than Pending Decision Approval. Contacting VA every few days to see if I can get an update or a fax of my preliminary ratings but each person I have spoken to said they cannot do that, even though I have read of some on this forum who were able to get faxed copies of their ratings before the PEB even had an update. I'll let you know if I hear anything and you do the same.

today my VA Ebenefits claim status directly changed from to Complete, oddly enough after accidentally refreshing the page. I don't know how it could have been 27 days ago- simply do not believe it. Anyways, it's the end of the day so I will update tomorrow, I know us JuhBlam guys lap up every bit of timeline information we can

never mind, it looks like that was apparently for special correspondence, I assume a piece of paperwork. The language definitely threw me off. Looks like it says:

Once the PEB sends your Pre-199 to VA you are found unfit from the PEB that is the only thing I am sure of. The PEB sends it to the VA to make the rating for your unfit conditions. I should let you know my PEBLO has never given me a straight answer on any question and wouldnt tell me if I was fit or unfit thats not to say they all wont. I know some people have heard from there PEBLO about being fit or not but I think it all depends on the PEBLO. I wouldnt put too much stock in the 15 day window because they are behind on alot of packets.

My latest update is still no answer from my peblo if I am fit or unfit. Narsum signed on April 17, MEB packet sent to PEB April 19, My MEB on ako shows update on May 17, 2012 but does not say what it is. Received a new message on ebenefits saying when you are in your in. The message was telling me that I may qualify for disability benefits. When I click on view my status, it shows preperation for decision.

On the next steps. its shows

Next Steps:
Your claim is currently located in our "Rating" phase. We will propose a decision on your claim when all outstanding requirements are satisfied.
Several factors will determine the duration of the "Decision" phase, including:
•type of claim filed
•number of disabilities you claim
•complexity of your disability(ies), and
•availability of evidence needed to decide your claim.

So i called VA today and got two different answers, but nothing about being fit or unfit.

**********UPDATE************
My e-benefits just changed from Gathering of Evidence to Pending Decision Approval :D . Not sure how much longer after that I should expect to hear anything but I am going to try and talk to someone at VA today. I sure hope the end is right around the corner. I will update with any new information when I get it. Made my day regardless:)!

That's great news! Hopefully the VA can be of help to you. It took me a few calls to finally get my results. I recommend you call your VA rep who sat down with you and filed your claims. That is the person to talk to. I got all my information from him and a few days later my request for the prelim rating was received in the mail. Good luck!

Congrats Shel81!

Thanks Everyone. I know this is a stressful process and I am so glad the end is near. I hope some of what I went through can help out people who are going through behind me. I learned so much from this site that I would have been clueless about if I wasent on here.

********UPDATE*******
I spoke to my VA rep today he said he expects that the VA will have my paperwok back at the PEB sometime this week. The preposed raiting is in and they are preping it to be sent back as of yesterday. I am super stoked. The VA side of things has been the fastest process out of all the MEB/PEB things I had to deal with. I only had one unfitting condition so that may be why.

********UPDATE*******
I e-mailed my PEBLO Monday and asked if she could check on the status of my packet at the PEB. She said she had not heard anything from the PEB (no surprise she always says that). My VA rep here let me know through e-mail later that day that my packet was returned to the PEB as of the 12th of June. I e-mailed my PEBLO again to let her know that the paperwork was sent back by the VA and since I had to drop off my leave form for my records I decided to stop in and talk to her. Once again she says she has not heard anything from the PEB (no surprise). I asked her if there is any way to contact them and check (I know full well she can) she said she would e-mail them and wait for a response and would get back to me when she does. Since I haven’t heard anything from her I will go and visit again tomorrow since they are closed on Thursday for training. I call the 1-800 VA number and they said everything was mailed and I should have received my paperwork by now from them. I asked if they could fax over a copy but was told they have to wait at least 15 days before they can fax it. The wait is to give it time to come in the mail. Seattle is 45 min from my house I am dumfounded as to how it would take so long for mail to get from there to me so I hope it didn’t get “lost”. The only good thing about this is that I know the VA is done with their portion and now I am just waiting for the PEB to bless off on it and my call to sign my paperwork and then on to the next chapter in my life. Time just seems to be dragging now.

Hey, the VA told me the same thing about the 15 day wait. I called them back, got a different rep on the phone and he agreed to re-mail me my preliminary findings. I got those in the mail in less than a week. It's been about a month, and never did I end up receiving the documents from Seattle that I was told were mailed to me following the preliminary findings. I would just call back, talk to someone different and ask them to mail them again. If I hadn't done that, I wouldn't have received them in the mail. When I went to sign my DA 199 last week, the same documents I received in the mail were given to me though. Contact your VA rep again and ask for your preliminary ratings. Your VA rep does have access to that information. The only thing he couldn't tell me was how each claim was rated, but he gave me my DoD and VA rating percentages right over the phone.

I know time seems like it is dragging, but this is the end and it will go by fast. I was told I could expect my orders as early as this week, but its looking like next week at the earliest at this point.

my update is that now my AKO says it was forwarded to PEB on June 1st. Should I have recieved a call by now or is this probably a number fudge, since they did have the packet since Feb 1st.

ok, my apologies. I've read this thread a few times before, but should have read again to see a great example. In any case, if anyone else has any additional information I would be grateful.

******UPDATE*****
I signed my 199 yesterday after much confusion about where my packet was between the VA and the PEB with both parties saying neither had the paper work. I went to my PEBLO to Patient Advocacy to the PEBLO Supervisor and sent e-mails to my MSC. I was told that the PEBLO has no contact with the PEB and that they only send emails via there supervisor to the PEB. Since the VA was saying they didn’t have my packet and were done my MSC said it was out of his hands. The PEB claimed they had not received it even though it was sent 12 June. I got a call that afternoon saying I could come review my findings. SMH!!!! Apparently the Supervisor went shook the tree and wait for it……………….the PEB did have it. It would be funny if it was not our lives they were misplacing. Came in yesterday afternoon and signed my 199. 20% DoD 80% VA I figured it would be around that and I am not complaining at all. I know some things if I fought would be changed but the fight is gone from me I am just ready to start school and don’t want to drag it out any longer. I will add the other items on the VA side. A word of advice for any one when they start the finger pointing at the other person saying they don’t have your stuff you need to start making a lot of noise or your packet will sit on a desk somewhere like mine was I saw about seven or eight others sitting there. Good Luck everyone I will update when I go through the rest of the process.

Congratulations !! that's so awesome!! what is the phone number to PEB?
