Fort Lewis PEB

Notification to all on Ft. Lewis...
Most of the PEBLO's and Techs on post are being "tasked" to do some special hush-hush tasking until 3 Aug 12! There is no way now for me to have any communication with anyone about my case. I even went to Patient Advocacy today and they gave me a number to the guy in charge of all PA for MEB/PEB personnel on JBLM... I AM FURIOUS that there is only one damn person to represent all of us in MEB on this post. I am even more upset that there is no notification to us that they were even doing this. I have a soldier that has been waiting on his NARSUM for 3 months and they won't talk to him or communicate for another friggin' month it was ready to sign last week! WTF is wrong with this post?!?!? I am about to call the local news and let them know the up-and-up on what is going on here. Now I am expecting even longer to stay in now that they are stopping everything at the PEB as far as I am aware. They are already a month behind because of one week off in March! A whole month now? They will now be 4 months behind!!!

I even went to Madigan main MEB office and waited there for 1 1/2 hours to be completely ignored by 5 PEBLO's that were there.
grizz13,
I'm not a soldier at Ft Lewis, but that is the location for my PEB. If you read my above posts, I am already done with the VA side and now my paperwork is back at the Ft Lewis PEB awaiting my DA 199 to be completed. Keep us updated on what is happening. If it true that even the PEB side is being stopped at Lewis, I would think all PEBLO offices on military installations would be informed if there was a complete sudden work stoppage. It sounds like Ft Lewis is definitely not the place to be if you are going through a MEB right now. I feel for you. I know this process is long, but it just makes it worse when there is no communication. I had some major problems when my MEB started out, but once my NARSUM was signed, things seemed to get better. Good luck and again, keep us up to date on the situation going on up there.

I guess this is punishment for starting the MEB. Funny thing is it looks like I will stay in past my ETS. 13 months on IDES and still no end in sight...

I think a little more media attention is what they need. I am so sick of them having "tasking" and "working on North fort" They can barely handle the cases they have now. I would go down there when they were next to the chapel and they had stacks of records around there desks like forts they were just walking around them like they went there, using them to put stuff on. That is when I made up my mind I wouldn't have my records used as a coffee table. I would always go down and show my face but now they are in a room with cubicles and you have to go through the SSG that sits there and gives you short answers like she dosent want to be bothered. I guess they replaced the lady that use to be there for being too helpful she use to give me good info. I noticed my old Tech is gone too I guess they get the people giving out the trade secrets out and they can just do as they please. My old Tech came from Hood and she told me point blank The Lewis PEBLOs are dragging their feet there is no way theses cases should take this long with my case I should have been done 8 months max and thats with appeals.

Unfortunately, it's not what you know it's what you can prove. If the PEB is stopped at Fort Lewis that would be a nightmare with the current backlog plus whatever is now in the stacks. Hopefully this is just a disgruntled rumor or an excuse. If it is true then hopefully it is part of beneficial plan to train more personel to meet the IDES timeline of processing or something to that effect. Maybe someone at Fort Lewis can confirm or deny this. Either way it is taking a long time just for even awaiting PEB findings, let alone from reading others post about the time of getting their 199's back.

Update: I forgot to mention: I read in article in the Army times from 6 June that the case timeline has increased by 10% but a process is being initiated to process 2500 cases a month starting in August....perhaps this plays into the Fort Lewis PEB rumors

Hey Grizzz, Why do you feel "Most of the PEBLO's and Techs on post are being "tasked" to do some special hush-hush tasking until 3 Aug 12!"

Hey Shadow... was that on the VA side or the Army.......?
Va announce a speed up process for some 10 or 12 additional cities......
based on results from 7 or 8 test cities. :D

Thanks, I'll check it out.... :) Here's the article I was refering to;

:D
I did hear some decent news from the peblo section today. First cases are still being processed and awaiting finds should be any day now, second VA processing has improved and DRAS times are down to an average of 6-8 weeks for that region. If found unfit and the PEBLO doesn't check your status, the case can already be at DRAS without you knowing since there is nothing for you to sign if found unfit.

What's special about 3 AUG 12?

Well, I have been to many of the PEBLO's offices to find someone to help me and almost all of them (20-somethingish offices) had a letter posted on their doors that they were tasked until 3 Aug 12 and they will not deal with any packets while this tasking is happening. They gave a number and a name to another PEBLO to call about our cases, which were wrong numbers all together to people that were tasked out too. I talked to the Chief of the MEB Patient Advocay section today, he still wouldn't say what it was, but he is questioning why the PEB office is taking 5 weeks to look at my packet, and sent a e-mail to the head of the PEB office to look into my case and see what is up. I don't expect any reply from anyone, but the guy told me to call him at the end of next week if nothing posts on e-benefits.

I feel like I am running into a rubber wall sometimes...

Yeah the ole human hamster wheel with a sign that says "follow the yellow brick road" treatment..... hmmm on the Mystery Task. I wonder if IG knows?

Upda
02 Feb- recommended MEB
23 Mar - VA C&P appointments complete
03 Apr- Narsum appointment/MEB
13 Apr - MEB found unfit
16 Apr- packet sent to PEB Fort Lewis
??? - awaiting findings

Was told PEB would take 30-45 days for findings then another 60-90 days for VA ratings. Hoping to have PEB finding back by end of May which will be the 45 day mark.

UPDATE: 09 JUNE Found unfit by PEB

Grizz13- Nobody is there?? WTF?! Have you gotten any other scoop on this? This is unblievable!!!! Thanks!!

Still no word, I couldnt call the ombudsman today. Gonna do it tomorrow.

I have IIH. My MEB was initiated in Oct 2011. I was found unfit April 2012 and my packet was sent up to Seattle on 13 April. I was told 4-6 weeks until I hear back for my VA ratings but its now June 13th and I haven't heard anything. When I call the VA 1-800 number I keep getting told that they can take 300+ days but that my packet is IDES and should be done faster. I'm so frustrated and don't know who else to call abou this. I called my PEBLO and she basically told me there was nothing to do but wait...UGH. Any ideas on how much longer I may have??

Grizz13,
They are probably part of the review committee that the SECARMY and CoS put together to review all the medical files of Soldiers diagnosed with PTSD that were reviewed at JBLM. Since the big scandal last year that showed reviewers were being encouraged to disapprove PTSD or downgrade the level of PTSD, there has been a lot of backlash. Now the Army is saying it is going to review hundreds of thousands of files in the next 90 days. That will most likely slow the MED Board and PEB process there to the pace of a snail for the rest of the Summer until they complete that task and catch up on the backlog.

Mar,
VA received my packet on march 30th. Got a call from va last night to update my info and was told my preliminary ratings were done and they were sending them. I am IDES too. Mine went to Seattle. Best thing I can tell you to do is get onto ebenefits and track it yourself and once you hit decision pending approval wait a few days and do an IRIS inquiry for update. My Peblo told me that ratings can take 90 days to 6 months. I'm almost at 90 days. Hope that helps.
