Well here is my timeline as of right now with Ft. Knox.

09/27/2012 - Given P3 profile and told I was going to go through an MEB
10/05/2012 - IDES Briefing and officially start MEB process
10/20/2012 - Met with my PEBLO for the first time
03/19/2013 - First appointment with VA MSC
04/04/2013 - BH exam with the VA
04/08/2013 - Claim conditions worksheets completed and turned in
04/16/2013 - C&P exam completed
Current - Still awaiting NARSUM and MEB packet for either signature/rebuttal (depending on NARSUM of course)

I have kind of felt like I have fell through the cracks in the IDES system because I haven't made it to the PEB portion yet and 8 months of being in the IDES system.

I was just under the impression that the process shouldn't be this long in the beginning. I know that it bottle necks once it hits the DRAS in Seattle but I am not sure what to do. I went to the IDES center and they said my NARSUM was finished on 2 May so I am not sure why I haven't seen my packet yet.

Once the NARSUM is done, your PEBLO has to send your 3947 around for signatures, but it shouldn't be talking this long.

Well I am not sure who I would have to talk to but I am thinking about requesting to get my PEBLO changed. It seems whenever I send them an email about if they need anything from me or that I have scheduled leave coming up and letting my PEBLO know I get the feeling that I am bothering them. I finally got an email yesterday from an email that I sent a couple weeks ago letting them know of appointments, leave, and etc.

Your PEBLO hasn't said anything about where your 3947/NARSUM is? That's just wrong.

When should the "PEB" portion of the AKO Meb/Peb status be started? I'm just curious since my unfit memo was "supposedly" sent to the VA in March but my PEB part still says no record found. Is that supposed to updated continually or is this just human error possibly? Thought maybe you would know...

Not sure about the PEB portion. I know the PEBLO is supposed to update the AKO with current info on what is going on for thier portion

ah got it.. I never understood that part. It says it's updated every 24 hours so I assumed it would not be the PEBLO but I've always been curious. Thanks!

Well I have found out that evidently they are waiting for a new commander's statement to go with my MEB packet so that I can see my NARSUM/3947. This would have been nice to know but I have talked to my new commander and I am hoping to have it tomorrow. I am getting very irritated at the whole process because as you can see from my timeline I have been doing this since late September/early October and I am still not pass the NARSUM stage and I am in the IDES system. Very frustrated at the whole process and I can't wait to get this all behind me.

I emailed my PEBLO today and I guess that instead of waiting on a new commander's statement that they have attached a memorandum about the commander's statement and are moving forward with my packet. She says that I should be able to pick up my packet NLT Tuesday evening. I am hoping that this is true so that I can get this process rolling again. Once I get my NARSUM I will update my other thread that I have started about my asthma that I have had questions about. Thanks to everyone for all of the great knowledge here and just know that I am trying to make this website known to people here on Ft. Knox that are going through the MEB/PEB process as well.

So I sent my rebuttal into the IDES center on Wednesday for my MEB. My PEBLO told me that it is supposed to take NLT 10 calendar days from the day that I submit it. Then they told me yesterday that the person that looks at the MEB after the rebuttal won't be in until Monday. Should I still be counting down from when I sent it in to hear something back or Monday?? I know regardless of the results that it goes to the PEB since I already have an "does not meet retention standards" condition and I am rebutting one of my one that does. Thanks for the info!

So my case finally went to the PEB yesterday. From what I have read and have been told even if the MEB finds that a condition meets retention standards the PEB could find the condition unfitting correct?? I just want to make sure that I have this right.

Welcome to the PEB Forum! :)

The MEB is initially reviewed by the informal PEB (IPEB), and you do not appear before the IPEB. That said, the IPEB decision will include written justification supporting a Fit or Unfit finding for each of your medical conditions, and if your condition(s) are combat-related and/or incurred in a combat zone.

Moreover, the IPEB will make other determinations (e.g., LOD, EPTS, medical treatment compliance, permanent/stable condition) for any unfit condition(s) then at the conclusion of the IPEB, the next step will depend on the IPEB results/determination.

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Thank you guys for all of the help on this forum. I got a call from my new PEBLO on Tuesday since my old PEBLO was a term employee and was released due to the budget cuts. She told me that as of 05 July that my case was being rated by the DRAS. So now it is time for the long wait with the VA that so many of you have had to deal with. Thanks for keeping me positive throughout this whole process. I will definitely be glad when it is done because I closed on a house down in SC this past weekend and my family will be moving there around the 1st of September. The sooner that I will be back with them the better!

Good deal! Positive thinking yields positive results! ;)

Moreover, congratulations on the closing of your new home in SC! :)

Well a little update on my timeline. I received a call from the Seattle DAV today and got my POA worked out with them. Once that was taken care of he looked in the system and said that as of last Wednesday my case had been confirmed at the DRAS and that they case was marked as complete. He said since that was showing in the system that hopefully within the next 30 days or so he hopes to see movement on my case and the preliminary ratings to be completed. This is the best new that I have had in a while since this Friday will be a year for me since I have started this process. So to everyone out there just stick with it because I know all of the uncertainty is unsettling but it will be over before you know it.

Indeed, this is a very good informational update! :)

To that extent, I am pleased to read that movement of your DoD IDES case file is rolling along; good deal!

So I happened check ebennies this evening and my status has changed to pending decision approval. If it stays true to other timelines then it should go back to preparation for decision and that means that my ratings will be back on the way the PEB. This is good news for me as I am seperated from my family right now while I wait on this process to finish. Just so everyone knows the 90-120 days from unfit memo to proposed ratings seems to e holding true as I am at 103 days since my packet was sent to the VA.

Sounds like we are pretty much in the same boat.

Process started in January...didn't do the first appt till March
NARSUM complete around the July 4th Weekend (go figure there...offices closed can't really talk to many people)
- was told not to expect to hear back on anything till November.

Middle of September I get a phone call froma D.C. Number. Some lady who stated she was fromthe IDES system and they were doing a survey when the packet goes from MEB to PEB...(guess I'm in the PED stage). Told the PEBLO about it and he gave the "I really don't want to deal with you right now" / Blank "I'm totaly clueless" stare.

FT Knox does NOT have the best program (and they got a huge WTU right across the street)

So just another quick update. I called DAV today since I have a POA through them. They stated that my ratings were completed but there wasn't a letter in the system yet so they didn't know what they were. So that awesome news is that my proposed ratings are done and I should hopefully be hearing something very soon! This is definitely some awesome news and I hope that the process starts to pick up now.
