Findings received, NEED HELP!!

Got the call today, findings are: Condition not rateable by the DOD (not combat related) / 80% VA.

This doesn't make any sense. I was boarded for PTSD and my R shoulder. I don't understand how they aren't able to be rated. It doesn't make sense to me. I have a LOD determination for my PTSD, and my R shoulder injuries and surgeries have been well-documented.

@Jason Perry or anyone else...please help!

Did the government pay for travel/lodging/food when you had to go to D.C.?

So I met with the IDES attorney today. He basically said since I had pre existing mental health, the board is saying that all of my mental health symptoms are pre existing. Said that it is unlikely a formal board request would get approved, and even less likely that I'd get approved for retirement. He said that even if I did get 30%, I would still have a 6 month eval, and evals every 18 months where they look for any excuse to take away my rating. Said that he recommends just taking the 80% and running.

I hate the idea of giving up, i'm a career infantryman. But...I'm tired, man. I'm just fucking exhausted with this whole bullshit process and all of the fuck fuck games. I don't have another four months in me to fight this. I'm thinking I should just give in and accept these findings. The only appreciable benefit is Tricare, and I won't need it/my wife has better insurance through her work.

So...Fuck man. I don't know. I'm just tired.

I would go to the Formal Board and fight for what you're entitled to. Just my opinion.

Keep fighting!
