Final Ratings: Preparation for Decision

Retired last month, VA did not acknowledge receipt of my DD214 until this past week. Today a new claim appeared and moved to preparation for decision with a estimated completion date of 18 Sept-17 Oct.

I wasn't expecting final ratings until the end of the year. Is this new status an indication that I am close to finishing or is it typical for IDES cases?

Most take about 6 months to a year to process. They do move the date back so don't get to excited. I was IDES and it took me 9 months. They said I would be finished within 3 months but kept moving my date back. I did get my retirement DoD payment a month after discharge. Your almost home free. Don't forget to file for any CRSC. You do this when you get your Final Approval Rating.

Sorry but most are taking 1-5 month not 6 months to a year, and the VA is becoming better with finalizing ratings post IDES

Yes, this is a good sign. Mine recently closed, and once it hit Prep for decision it moved very quickly. Best of luck - Bob

Hmmm....I have been in the "preparation for decision" phase for 90+days. The estimated claim completion date was 9/26/14. I don't see what is taking so long, all of the paperwork has already been written in the IDES process. In fact, this phase, during IDES only took 31 days.
