Exit interview questions

Hello,

I am stationed in Germany, completed my physical at FT Bragg, and signed my NARSUM the 27th. Before I even left for FT Bragg, I told my PEBLO here at Germany , that I wasn't complete getting my sleep study complete. I received and signed my NARSUMon 27 Sept, and was diagnosed with Sleep apnea on 7 OCT, and also my PTSD is being evaluated more closely. I filed for PTSD on the VA side.

When exactly can I file the sleep apnea and and any other issues that I am dealing with.

You can get them added at any time while going through the MEB/PEB. Being that you already signed the NARSUM and it is (I am assuming) was already sent to the VA for rating, you can wait until the day after you separate and go to a VSO and start the process to get claims added. The downfall of doing it after you get out is the VA will not treat these claims until they rate them, and you will not get the VA benefits until after they are finalized.

My major concern is the PTSD, was it combat related? If it was, the DoD should be rating it as an unfitting claim as well.
 
Thanks grizz for the response. My PEBLO is telling me I have to wait to file anything else until I get my ratings back from VA.

I am stuck in Germany and my PEBLO is at Bragg.

Can you offer insight how I can get this done if the PEBLO won't send up.

Not sure one the legalities on adding stuff after the MEB is complete, but Ranger2992, medicalmystery, Ed Mercanti, Jason Perry and maparker would be able to help with this.

OIF/OEF/OND Veterans get automatically get five years of cost free healthcare form the VA for any conditions related to or incurred in the line of duty.

The VA can put you in for a sleep study using your Tricare TAMP 180 day benefits if you are on terminal leave.

There is a team of OIF/OEF/OND coordinators at each VA hospital that are there to assist you. Prior to separation, make sure the condition is listed on your 10-10EZ for you to get evaluated.

In order to add the condition after the NARSUM is signed, it would have to be a unfitting condition. OSA can be found unfitting, but not too often.

There is a form you can use to send additional medical evidence to the VA it is form 21-4138, fill this form out and submit it to your VA MSC, this way it gets in your file and helps establish a date of claim and service connection.

How many years of active duty service do you have?

You will need to claim the condition with the VA once you are discharged from the military. The date of the claim goes back to the date you file, so make sure you file right away.
