Hi Everyone,

While I have been on this site many times, it doesn't allow you to log in at work so I haven't posted before. So here is my current situation,


Narsum Completed 16 Dec
Met with VA in Jan
QTC Exam completed in Feb

My PEBLO contacted me today to say that my QTC results were in and to come in to review them etc. I went in today to find out that one of my conditions had been put forward as a referred condition. In my NARSUM it states Chronic Pain syndrome and Chronic Back pain in the title. It then goes on to state that I am on opioids due to chronic pain syndrome from dual illingual hernia surgery I had in 2011. There is an entire paragraph about my pain and how they have been unable to correct the issue. Then the second paragraph is about my back problem and so on.

When I met with the VA rep to list all my issues the PEBLO had to go back and talk to my referring doctor who confirmed it was two separate conditions and on all my QTC paperwork it states that both issues are my MEB referred conditions. The VA rep stated that its good that they are both referred and its much more likely ill hit the 30% threshold for retirement.

Now on to today, I went in and could immediately tell something was wrong with the way the PEBLO was acting. She then went on to state that everything was back and was talking about it all when she said that the back issue was the only AF referred condition but not to worry it was still a VA condition etc etc. I then immediately stopped her and asked for clarification as we just went over this a few months before and my doctor the VA and her were all on board it was two different conditions I was being referred for. After I said it wasn't alright as this could be the difference between retirement and not retirement she said I needed to do a letter etc stating a case that it should be referred and that I could send it to an impartial review. I then said why can't it go back to my main doctor who did the NARSUM and who referred me for both conditions. Then she said that wasn't possible. I then started reading out loud my narrative summary which clearly states its two different conditions and she told me she doesn't have time to read every NARSUM line for line and that when she sent it to AFPC she sent it up as chronic back only and that the impartial review was my only option. But I feel I'm getting screwed over for my PEBLO's inability to properly read the NARSUM which she stated she's to busy to read line for line.

What options do I have? Any help would be appreciated
 
Okay a few questions, My Vets.gov and my Ebenifits still show that they are "gathering evidence" and that the QTC results were due to them on the 24th of March.

11 Apr 17--Requested Impartial review, as PEBLO only did 1 referred condition where PCM stated three, Peblo stated "She doesn't have time to read NARSUM line by Line"
17 Apr 17-- Updated 618 received, Impartial review Dr. restated that he feels they are referred conditions (Doesn't mean they will be referred by AFPC though) Signed 618 with PEBLO
21 Apr 17--Signed 618 sent to AFPC


Currently I have never had any messages from MyPers and Vets.gov & Ebenefits, it still shows "gathering evidence and its past due" Also I asked the PEBLO about when I should expect my case to go from AFPC back to the VA and she said that "it doesn't work like that" and that once I sign the 618 I don't hear anything back until my rating and everything are done. She is giving me a timeline of Nov but looking at everyone else's I'm positive thats wrong and need something a little more accurate that way I can plan something for me and my family.
 
So I signed my 618 on the 17th of April after my IPR was completed, my PEBLO then said it would take her a few days to get everything together then she would send it all to AFPC, she said it would be no later than Friday. But today I got this email

Does this mean she only just sent it up?
 
That is a form letter.
 
Every person whose MEB goes to Randolph for PEB consideration gets this very same email!
 
Found out today that my peblo didn't upload my package to MyPers until the 1st of May. Pissed off is an understatement
 
So last week I was scheduled for a surgery and even though I had called an emailed my PEBLO multiple times to give her the dates and get approval, she went try and failed to get approval. So after getting the first shirts and Patient advocates involved, they were able to get approval last minute and they contacted AFPC who stated my case should of been pulled an resubmitted when she didn't refer both conditions but fortunately for me they went ahead and agreed to refer them at this stage. So now I am just waiting on my case to be forwarded to the VA for ratings

The link is to the IDES timeline I was given by my peblo, it states they have 15 days to find me fit or unfit. And that I can rebut the decision. But my peblo said I won't find out if I'm fit until I get my ratings which takes 120 days?! This is the same timeline I got from the OAC & my Peblo. Any insight would be appreciated! Per this I should of already been found fit or unfit
 
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but for everyone on that timeline but the person going through the MEB it is a guideline, more like a goal. It's highly unlikely they will meet most if any of those deadlines. When it comes to you though your PEBLO will ensure you meet every one of your deadlines.

You can see how long my MEB took from start to finish. Hope that helps.
 
Yea I figured that! Thanks, but can people confirm that I should get a fit or unfit notification when my package goes to the VA? My peblo says that I won't know if I'm fit or unfit until I get my actual ratings, which makes no sense
 
Okay so i called RI VA today, they said they received my package last week with two unfitting conditions and it should be about 30 days till i get my preliminary ratings! Ebenefits still shows gathering evidence same as it always has since feb.

Update! Talked to Providence today they said they received my package on the 10th of May and it has been assigned to someone and it usually only takes 45 days so we will see

Based on people's experiences on this board it will depend. I didn't find out whether I was fit or in my case unfit until my ratings came back. Sometimes the PEBLO will tell the member but not all of the time.
 
Called again today i seen people were getting their ratings back that had more conditions and had been at the VA less, found out while they did get the package may 10th for some reason they didn't actually assign anyone to it until last week!
 
Finally a little movement it seems my Ebenefits changed to preparing for decision, this is the first change I've ever had on EB. My Vets.gov still shows gathering evidence so hopefully something is happening
 
Well the nightmare continues! Just called providence and they said its been unassigned and for some reason no one is working on it. Isn't finished and hasn't even started

If it helps any, Providence was never able to give me any information about my MEB. I wouldn't necessarily put a lot of stock in the information they're giving you. Keep in contact with your PEBLO, they can talk with your case manager directly. At one point I did call my case manager directly but that was because my PEBLO was on leave.
