Ebenefits and IPEB?

This is my first post on here and after reading the many who were able to at least find out what number in line they were, I called my PEBLO and asked him if he had that information and he said no, and that they have never had any access to that. My E-benefits says I am in the decision phase. Does this mean anything as far as where my Package is in getting reviewed in DC? My EAS is January 6th 2012, I just wanted to get everyones opinions on how long it takes. I am 26 and a Sgt in the Marines.

Here are my claims and timeline.

Just got a call from the VA yesterday stating that they just recieved my package from the DOD on Monday November 7th. The lady told me that it could be anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks until the VA makes their ruling but she also said they have been getting them out on average at about 2 weeks here lately. So i figured my E-benefits would have stayed in Decision or maybe even bump up to Notification but when I logged in it was back in the Developmental phase. How did I take a step back? Does this mean something with my package is screwed up? WTF is going on? Has this happened to anyone else on here? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

When I talked to my Peblo & the VA rep on base they said you can't rely on the E-benefits website !! My package has been in providence RI since July and mine has jumped from development stage to decision stage 3 or 4 times now so my advice is just keep in touch with your Peblo & VA rep... They have been saying any day for a month now all they told me was Im unfit!! Good luck !!

Ain't that the truth, I've watched my VA ebenefits progress bar go up and down a few times now. It says it's still in Providence since June, after a call to the Peblo I found the sight's information regarding where the package is at not to be trustworthy.

My e-benefits phase also jumped back from decision to development. When I called the VA rep on the 8th of November, she said that my proposed rating was sent back to the PEB on the 26th of October. She asked me my EAOS and said that my findings will come from my PEBLO, and my notification letter will come from the VA when I hit my EAOS. I realized that the phase on e-benefits doesn't really matter until we actually get out of the military. All of our information is going to come from our PEBLO. I hope this helps, and try not to stress about e-benefits. :)

I just received a call from my PEBLO and he informed me that my findings had come in. He told me over the phone that I was rated at 10% DOD, and 30% VA and that I was found unfit. He wasnt able to say much more because they were swamped. Before he got off the phone, he set up my appointment on Tuesday December 6th at 0800. Recently I have been running in circles between S-1 and IPAC to get a CoFGM letter to line out my EAS in the case that this process would go past my EAS, but those circles are a whole other story. I asked him if I still needed to do that and while he was hard to understand he said I should have a new EAS before that so no. My question for you guys and gals is, does that sound right? Why would I get a new EAS? Since the board is over and results are in before my original EAS, why wouldnt I keep that one?

Also, its been so long since I attended the VAAP class and I cant remember but at what rating and which one (DOD or VA) do you get health insurance for spouse and children. Thanks again!!

Yah, to get medical for the family you have to be rated 30% or above by the DOD. My results came in and I signed on the 14th of November. I kept my original EAS of 01Jan2012, but I could have changed it. I am in the Navy and my PEBLO is a Marine and he told me you guys set your new EAS differently. Today is 3 DEC and I started my terminal leave, but my message has not came down yet. I was told it can take some weeks, and I figured with Thanksgiving holiday I may get it next week. Just remember that you are still considered on a PEB until that message comes down. It has your discharge code and severance pay amount on it. Before you sign your DD214, ask what the R-code stands for and check your severance pay to make sure it is correct (base pay x 2 x years of service). It is really hard to get it corrected. Since you got 30% VA, you do qualify for Vocational Rehabilitation (Ch 31) benefits, which is great if you are planning to go back to school. You have to trade your Post 911 for it, but you get an extra 12 months and ALL expenses paid (parking pass, supplies, etc) and you get the same BAH as the Post 911. Also, Post 911 caps out at private schools at 17500, but Ch 31 pays the entire amount. Good luck with everything!

Thank you for all the responses! There is SO MUCH stuff involved in this whole process that it can seem overwhelming! My wife and I have a few questions that we are going to ask but are there more things to be aware of or certain questions I need to ask so something doesnt come back to bite me later? I have 30 days of leave left right now and I heard that you get 20 days PTAD. How soon do you think I would be able to start taking leave? I really dont want have to sell any more back than I have to because they tax it like crazy! When he called the other day he said my new EAS should be sooner than my original of Jan 6th. Thanks again!!

I believe as a medical case they force you to take all leave days as terminal..

The PTAD of up to 20 days is optional, but if you do choose to take it, it can push your EAS back a month to give you time to check out.

I went to turn my PEB findings in at IPAC outbound and they told me that all Med Seps new EAS is at the end of the month and that they will take my 30 leave days into account when they make it, so the new EAS should be at the end of January and I will be able to start terminal at the end of December.

My PEBLO told me I would be getting severence pay but didnt tell me how much or when. How can I find this out?
