So I’m currently ima waiting my DOD rating. I have gotten my proposed VA rating at a total of 80%. The condition that I have been refered to the PEB for I was rated at 10%. My question is that does the DoD usually take the VAs rating for the most part or is it more like a gamble with these things.

Yeah I did IDES. Been on this board going on a year and 4 months now. Just seeing if all my time is going to be wasted or if I’m gonna actually get something from all this waiting
From what I've seen a lot and my own experience DoD usually gives less of a rating than what the VA does. In my case I was rated 20% DoD 70% VA
DoD ratings are often times lower than VA ratings because the VA is rating all service connected conditions while the DoD rating is only derived from referred conditions determined to be unfitting by the PEB.
Got it, so I understand the rating will be lower because you’re only being rated at the DOD for your prescribed condition. My main concern is since the VA rated me ag 10% for my foot specifically which is what I’m being seen at the PEB for, will the PEB usually agree with the VA’s rating for the 10% or will they usually go with something else.
If your referred condition is deemed unfitting by the PEB then the 10% rating from the VA will be the rating for your referred condition.
The VA provides both ratings. PEB says fit or unfit. If unfit the PEB will request ratings from the VA. The VA will provide a rating for referred condition(s) that the PEB determined to be unfitting as well as a a total rating for all conditions being claimed.
the disability rating for referred condition(s) determines if you will be medically separated or medically retired. A disability rating less than 30% for referred condition(s) results in medical separation and a disability rating of 30% or higher for referred condition(s) results in medical retirement.
