Do you get disability prorated for the month you medically retire?

I’m going over my pay and discovered that I didn’t receive any disability for the month that I separated. I separated on Jun 22, so should’ve I have gotten disability pay for the remaining 8 days of June? I did get my pension prorated for those 8 days (8 divided by 30, times my pension), but what about disability?

VA disability compensation is not prorated. It always begins the first day following the month retired (if previously approved)

EXAMPLE:

Retired 17 July 2022
VA COMPENSATION begins1 August 2022 and the payment for 1-31 August 2022 VA comp is 1 September 2022..

What Ron said, but also, you should have received DOD retired pay until your VA kicked in, if you were DOD rated 30% or more.

Thanks. I did get my retired pay for that period.
