Retired March 2020. Tried to piece together an initial CRSC application for conditions that I thought were a slamdunk... They were not and got full rejection around 2 months after I submitted in the fall of 2020.

I ended up retaining an attorney to put together a package. It is quite lengthy ~150 pages looking to get CRSC capped out at ~80% VA which would max out my residual retired pay. The Package was submitted on 2/22/2022 (no im not joking) at approximately 22:22 (joking).

Am I being unreasonable in my time expectations? No response to the package, voice mails left, or emails sent requesting a status.

Thanks!

Hello,

You might use the SEARCH feature on this board to see what others have experienced.

Suggested search items: “ Navy timelines” or just “Navy CRSC”

Ron

Hi Ron, I have used the the search and used both of those but unfortunately all recent cases that came up were USA / USAF or quite old for DON.

Was hoping perhaps there was some knowledge recently that just hadnt post it up.

You might ask @PERS-95 ; I think he is active-duty Navy and works in "personnel".

Another CRSC-processing source is @RetiredColonel-MikeT . He was in the Army, but he might be aware of the timelines for Navy CRSC.

I am sure this will not make you feel better, but there was a time when Army CRSC applications took >6 months for a decision. I know from personal experience. My first CRSC application was filed ~2005.

@RonG I appreciate the lateral, but CRSC doesn’t go through Navy HQ, it goes through DC, and all I know about CRSC is what I read online.

https://www.secnav.navy.mil/mra/CORB/pages/crscb/default.aspx

CORB is the organization that oversees the PEB, and the CRSC Board is a standalone organization under CORB.

There’s also a DFAS CRSC page. Defense Finance and Accounting Service > RetiredMilitary > disability > crsc

Thank you both!

Unfortunately it seems like the DON CRSC is a very opaque system.

Two emails to the CRSC email box have gone unanswered from my Attorney requesting an update. I will be sure to post my CRSC timeline once everything comes back to provide a good data point.

At this point I will just keep adding up my possible retroactive lump sum to figure out what im going to do with it and pray I dont need to submit an appeal!

Sadly I haven't had any feedback from any of the very small handful of folks I've helped in the Navy/Marine Corps :/

I filed about a month earlier and contacted them, the response was less than helpful. I showed how I submitted, then got another notification email. This is a new record for length of time, I have no idea what's going on. I don't think it's ever taken them more than 90 days for past decisions.

Thanks for your reply! Great data point for me and others. Seems absolutely unconscionable that it should take this long.

Mike - Appreciate the response and hopefully CPM and I can get some good info out to the masses.

Update. I got a response via email only with the decision letter on a secure site late August.
