Day 100 since unfit notification, and still no proposed ratings from VA. My packet is in Seattle and ebenifits and the call center are both presenting inaccurate and conflicting information. I know there are many here who have waited longer. There are many here who have suffered more; and everyone has their own problems and issues.
I will say this though. I have heard a lot of people say or post that it is unfair to judge the VA as only the negative is heard, because the success stories don’t get told. Well this could be because when the VA is “successful”, most recipients of this success count their blessings and walk away without kicking up dust or causing any drama. I can appreciate that concept. Then people bring up the current two wars and say the VA is overwhelmed, and we shouldn’t blame the VA as it needs to catch up and yadda, yadda, yadda. That reasoning implies the VA was accomplishing their duties to standard before the wars. Well ask the next Vietnam Veteran you run across if the VA was on point with their issues and treatment. I think you’re going to hear no the VA was not fulfilling its responsibilities. So ultimately I am saying that the VA has never truly accomplished their mission, so there not just overwhelmed there broken and they need to be fixed. Now having been in the military I know you’re not supposed to just bring the problem, but you’re supposed to bring a solution.
My best recommendation is a request for help.

The link above is a site that would allow you to find your Congress person’s email. Please email your Congress person and request that they please (they like to hear please) vote for responsible, realistic measures as they appear for VA reform, and express your opinion on any measure that affects the future of Veterans rights and benefits.

The link above is a site that would allow you to find your Senators’ email. Please email your Senator and request that they please (they like to hear please) vote for responsible, realistic measures as they appear for VA reform, and express your opinion on any measure that affects the future of Veterans rights and benefits.
The key is to watch the new measures and fire off some emails to let our elected officials know our opinion. If we do this en mass we might see change in the future. I am going to fire off two emails (one to each of mine) as often as needed to request responsible representation from my elected officials. I need a hobby in my retirement any way.
So I am basically asking you to consider joining me in this new hobby, and if you would feel like it please pass along this method of contact. If they start receiving a ton of emails all basically saying “please don’t take our benefits or rights away and to please help fix the VA they might do so…
