Current Separation Codes on DD Form 214 NEW

Greetings,

I have a SEA code on block 26 of my draft DD Form 214 worksheet. I have only been able to find EA, but nothing for this newer SEA code.
I have educational benefits for my dependents proposed on my VA proposed percentages, which make me think its a PDRL code, but I have TDRL wording in my DA 199?

I am separating after close to 21 years continuous active service, and combat deployments x 3.
PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, Insomnia, and anxiety are my separating conditions.

Block 28 Narrative reason states: DISABILITY, COMBAT RELATED.
I know I will be re-evaluated by the Army on or before March 2023 with 70%DOD/100% VA, so that is TDRL but many benefits are PDRL entitlements.

This 3 letter code is rather important, and it makes me wonder what other new codes are out there.

I surmise it is a newer hybrid code but have no intel on it.

You’re confusing Permanent and total from the Va with PDRL from the DOD. The SEA just means combat disability.

Appreciate you JMATTK, I just can’t find ANYTHING on the newer code. If you have insight to a newer list, please advise, as there are other new codes that could hang a service-member up if they are not aware of the seriousness of a simple 3 letter code.

From the research of another person and his subsequent report on another site populated by those facing disability retirement or separation:
"My DD214 civilian got back to me. Army made new SPD codes in April, those are already in TRANSPROC. But the regulation that lists them has been delayed because of COVID, so currently no place to look them up. Additionally, that reg is LIMDIS because the old codes escaped to employers and were being used and that's evidently not the intent. So don't expect to see a published update of the list unless and AD forum member can pull it down."

This is very helpful! My wife's code is SEA1. She is being retired permanently with max DOD% with combat related designation.

Thanks…it seems the separation codes with definitions are no longer widely available. Just an opinion.

My DA 199 stipulates a re-eval on or before March 2023 clearly indicating TDRL, please have her look at that document again.

My MSC says I am PDRL, but PTSD is mandated by law for follow up care, perhaps this is a piece of the equation, and confusion.

Perhaps her disabilities do not include PTSD. I spent a couple of minutes reviewing the posts of Provis and noticed a couple mentioning "presumptive" diseases, but nothing about PTSD associated with his wife.

My wife had 3 unfitting conditions all at 50%. So even though one of them was mental health she wasn't required for it to be TDRL because by law they don't put you on TDRL if the sum of your PDRL conditions maxes out at 75%.

She does but she maxes out without that condition. Here is the remark in section VI is:
Note: IAW DoDI 1332.18, Enc. 4, the Soldier's combined rating is 80% or greater for a permanent and stable condition (s) not related to the behavioral
disorder due to traumatic stress. Therefore, permanent retirement is recommended.

I am just trying to figure out now what the code ciphers into, as any block 26 code has the possibility for some profound ramifications.

At the same time why the chapter 35 education benefits were in the proposed ratings. As correct me if I am wrong that is only granted for PDRL 100% correct?

That is for 100% ratings but doesn't speak to TDRL or PDRL. 100% = 100% VA rating and benefits.

Chapter 35 education benefits are unrelated to the DoD rating. As @Provis stated, they are associated with only the VA rating.

I honestly wanna see if I can fight for higher ratings when I finish terminal leave. But I dont want to start that process until I have my VA money coming in first. But as far as my VA percentage which they wrote as permanent and stable..do I have to worry because my understanding is that I am PDRL. Was wondering if you could confirm what I'm thinking is correct. Thanks

In my case my DA Form 199 acknowledges that I will have a DOD follow up by March 2023 and am TDRL, I suggest you check yours cheepono. I separated partly due to the medications that treat major depressive disorder and PTSD, not just the conditions in and of themselves. These medications make me no longer able to deploy.
I will receive continued medical care through the VA out of medical necessity.
If you aren’t receiving continued care, its presumptive that you are doing fine and good to go in most medical realms, this is not unique to the VA. Just my two cents.
