Just got informed by my PEBLO who was at some PEBLO meeting this last week that the Air Force average time from start of MEB to being retired or seperated is about 414 days.

She said AFPC admitted to being the ones who were behind and they still expected all the people in the IDES follow the timelines and that it is ok for them (AFPC) to be behind.. lol

Just thought I would share this as it is current as of last week...

Thatll get the attention of a lot of people in congress. The IDES is congressionally mandated because of that very reason. I am skeptical as to how long this will actually last. I know plenty of people that got their MEB process done in about 6 months. Some 8 months, even some 4 months.

yeah they say it is supposed to follow a set schedule, but my PEBLO said she had asked AFPC how they can expect everyone to hold up their timelines and deadlines but they don't have to. AFPC's response was this " We are just to busy".....

Now I have no issue with my MEB taking 5 years....The longer I am in, the more my High 3 years of pay are, and the more time I have a steady paycheck, and stability. I am preparred to be out at anytime so I am not blindsided, but like I said have no problem with the system taking forever...Just got promoted 1 November so the extra pay is nice!!!

I spoke to my PEBLO today. She was at the same conference. She says that what AFPC is talking about is for people that appeal at every stage of the process. Just what she told me. She said that packets are still coming back from IPEB at 30-60 days.

All of this rings true except that appeals of AF FPEB's are taking about a year by themselves to process. So, it seems the total number of days on average may be ALL cases, however, I can see significantly longer for that subset that takes maximum time, asks for impartial review, rebuts, takes maximum time to make election from IPEB, then demands FPEB and then appeals that again taking the maximum time.

I think that the IDES system is slower than far than old system, FWIW. This is because I view the VA part as being truncated because they will not review ratings for conditions not found unfitting. Seems to me that this means the idea behind the IDES, that you have one combined rating before you leave service, is fairly well a false claim. After, you have to go through normal VA process and then, if it makes a difference for military ratings, are forced to go to the BCMR/BCNR to fix things. The process is potentially longer by multiples under the way it is currently administered.
