I need an opinion...

I've known that Im eligible to apply for CRSC for about 4 years now but the process is so complex I have no idea where to begin. so... I want to know if anyone is in a similar situation to this.

5 years 9 months active, High 3 $2536

Army overall 70% with CRSC eligible condition 50%

VA gave me 100% for the CRSC eligible condition.

to the best of my understanding, CRSC is supposed to make up for money I lose. If the VA is paying me more than the Army would, does anyone here think its worth my time and frustration figuring this thing out. I've been studying this CRSC deal for about 2 years now and I just cant make heads or tails of it.

Im wondering if someone here has a similar numbers situation, has applied and been told they get zero dollars. This would alleviate my frustrations and Id be able to put it to bed. The forms the Army wants me to submit with this application, I just havent been able to figure out where to get.

You should apply for CRSC.

Based on the numbers in your post, your CRSC would be $364 a month. This would be retroactive from at least January 2013 and perhaps back to January 2008 or your date of separation, whichever is more recent. Well worth your time to apply for CRSC. What forms did the Army request. I would think your DA 199 along with your VA ratings and CRSC application would suffice.

I have the DA 199. I Havent done a good job of keeping my VA decision letters, there have been several. Im unsure of how to go about getting "every" decision letter they have sent me. (the CRSC app of 2011 requires it.) Ebenefits only allows me to print a summary of benefits.

My date of placement on TDRL was 16 November 2010 with Army 60% and CRSC 50% and placement on PDRL was either august or september of 2012 with Army 70% with CRSC 50%. VA made me 100% for the CRSC eligible condition in April 2011, 6 months after TRDL placement.

Both, the Army and the VA have been fantastic with me. I've just gotten myself worked up over this CRSC thing and have been putting it off.

ok, I learned today how to request my prior award notification letters from the VA. The CRSC application states the Army needs ALL prior VA award letters. Do they really? Will they deny the claim if I only turn in the pertinent one? Anyone have experience with this?

I figured out how and requested a copy of my complete "C" file from the VA. That'll have all my notification letters in it. Thank you for your help, folks!

I am rated 70 through DoD and 80 VA. I have not applied for CRSC and didn't know much about it. I was medically retired 5/5/13 with 12 yrs 9 months and 3 days active. On my dd214 it states combat related. I'm so confused about Crsc i don't know how to figure it out.

Does anyone here have a pdf version of the DD 2860? DTIS keeps telling me I need a newer version of Adobe. When I try to install the suggested adobe version, the computer informs me I already have it installed. Does someone have a copy of the 2011 DD 2860 they could shoot me?

When i got approved i sent my narsum copy of combat awards, i.e. CIB and deployment awards. When you fill out the online packet and print it out and send that stuff in with it. It takes 30 working Days IE 5 days a week not counting holidays so 6 weeks. Copy of 199 , 214 , Retirement orders and The VA Rating things. The 199 was the biggest thing they went off of what was combat related. I got 80 percent for 17 years so it wasn't to bad.

It may be a problem with the form security...When I download directly from the DoD site, I initially get a message that I need a newer version of Adobe Reader. However, when I save, and then open, then it works (I believe the entire form saves, but the message displays). Hope this helps!

I filled for Crc for 5condition on my DA 199 I have v-3 yes only on one. I sent in med records that state how I was injured at Jump school, and combatives. Is that good enough or are they pretty anal about what's approved?

Back-40% (airborne school)
Sciatica (secondary)
Adjustment order- 30% (oif)
R/ shoulder - 20% (combatives)
Tinnitus- 10%

Should be dude as long as you filled out the packet right. Good chance if they needed more they'd contact you. I just went off of what I've seen on here and was a 1st time go!

Thank y'all for all the words of wisdom regarding this CRSC stuff. You truly gave me the confidence to re-engage and get it done.

DFAS told me today they recieved notification from DA that I have been awarded 100% CRSC back to Dec 2010. A couple questions...

1. Does anyone have experience with a recent time frame for the first payment?

2. When I started this particular thread, I was assuming my CRSC would be the 50 percent the Army put on my 199. Do any of you think this new percentage will change the math at all in my favor? Im wondering if there is some sort of "cap" for which I can be paid regarding CRSC.

One more question- Does CRSC percentage ever change? If the VA changes my rating, will CRSC follow suit?

Indeed for any potential assistance to your inquiry, I shall provide an answer as previously stated by @maparker within another PEB Forum thread/post on 09/27/2014 as follows:

"...Your CRSC is based on the lower of two amounts- the amount of VA comp for CR conditions and the amount of retirement based on length of service. If the limiting factor is the VA comp for CR conditions, and that amount goes up, so should CRSC. If the limiting factor is retirement pay, then it will not. This is a general statement as there other factors at play especially if your disability retirement amount exceeds you VA comp."

Thus, I quite often comment that "possessing well-informed knowledge is truly a powerful equalizer."

Best Wishes!

Yes! I had an increase on my PTSD and TBI the following month my CRSC INCREASED!!

CRSC can not exceed your retirement pay and will be the less of what VA Comp would pay for the percentage and Length of service. My Retirement is 1792 so my crsc can not exceed that amount. VA pays 1746 for the 80% disability I was rated by the DOD and my amount based on YOS amount is 105.00 and I will recieve the lesser of the 2 amounts.. so Im looking at 105.00 extra a month.
