CRSC question

I got 90 VA/40 DoD and I was advised by my PEBLO that I should try to apply for CRSC when I get out. I got 30% for PTSD (not sure if it falls into the category of "combat related"). I just want to ask if this condition will qualify me for CRSC because according to DFAS:

Eligibility
To qualify for CRSC you must:
  • be entitled to and/or receiving military retired pay
  • be rated at least 10 percent by the Department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA)
  • waive your VA pay from your retired pay
  • file a CRSC application with your Branch of Service

and as far as I'm tracking I would only be getting "military retired pay" until I get my first VA check then it will stop. And what does "waive your VA pay from your retired pay" exactly means? Can somebody please explain how does CRSC pay works (like breaking down the math barney style)? Thanks a lot!
 
I believe you're entitled to military retirement pay, but unless a higher rank your VA will offset the difference. IE Base pay high 36 is $4000 *.4 = $1600 military pension; HOWEVER VA exceeds this meaning reality is

DOD $ = 0 VA = $1888 (assuming spouse no children)

CRSC should partially restore some of this. I'd suggest taking a look a this calculator and plug in you %s to give you the best idea of what you can expect. I also hear tinnitus and IBS can be considered for CRSC almost presumed conditions. Any TBIs from blast?

Waiving your retirement pay is if you're under 20 years you'll likely want to waive retirement pay in order to receive VA compensation instead. VA is tax free and likely a higher amount.

I didn't get checked for TBI. So the CRSC is the difference between VA and DoD pay? Thanks for the reply!

I think the actual dollar amount is based off the VA payment amount max ceiling corresponding to the disability percentage.

There appears to be other factors with TIS if you play around on the calculator. Less time in less $, more time in more $, but not more than the % amount. Your results may vary is the best disclaimer.

I hear you need finalized VA ratings and proof of combat related injury for your service to make the determination if you qualify. Awards, orders, statements, etc.
