Estimate.

This does not require a computation. Your CRSC at 10% will be (per current VA comp tables):

Disability ratingMonthly payment (in U.S. $)
10%144.14

Your DoD retired pay will be less than 3000....your VA comp is 3600+ = zero retired pay remaining (i.e., no residual)
Retired pay is reduced dollar for dollar in the amount of VA comp received.

Thanks for the quick reply. So if I were awarded CRSC would I just not receive anything extra on top of my VA pay?

Yes, as I showed you in my earlier post, you will receive $144.14 as CRSC.

Take care,
Ron

Sorry if I'm not understanding completely, but if my CRSC rating were to increase, the maximum amount I could receive on top of what I receive from the VA would be about $600?

For Chapter 61 retirees (disability) the CRSC is the lesser of
--the longevity portion of his retired pay
or
--the dollar amount associated with the CRSC percentage; the amount is found in the VA comp tables.

Currently, You are going to receive the dollar amount of the CRSC that is found in the VA comp tables.

The longevity portion of retired pay is: AD years or equivalent x 2.5% x average high three = longevity portion

Any residual retired pay (left over from the reduction/offset) reduces the amount of CRSC.

There are likely 1,000 or more CRSC computations on this site. Recommend you use the SEARCH feature in the upper right of the screen to search for crsc. You will quickly see how it works.

Regards,
Ron

i will follow up in a few with a computation.

Estimate of maximum.
a. 2997 x 75% = 2247.78 retired pay
b. The amount of VA comp reduces item a to zero
c. 8 years active duty (should be shown on the retirement orders as "disability retirement" x 2.5% = 20%
d. 2997 x 20% = 599.40 close to the 600 you mentioned

Thanks, it looks like you put a lot of time and effort into helping people figure this stuff out. It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you. I occasionally overlook the fact that the CRSC computations are a one-time experience for most. And…it can be complex.

Where can we find the CRSC VA chart?

Where can we find the CRSC VA chart?
Hello @Newguy5

The VA current compensation tables are found at LINK <----

There is no CRSC VA chart. The VA compensation charts are used for CRSC amount too for:
--Comparison between it and the longevity amount
--The amount of CRSC if the chart amount is less than the longevity amount.

There are many other considerations, but the info above is the most general usage in conjunction with CRSC.

Got it!

Could you possibly calculate mine. I have not finished my process yet, but expecting the information below and trying to calculate finances.

1.--Average high three for basic pay: $3955(Estimated Retired Pay Base)
2.--DoD disability percentage: 100% P
TDRL
3. --Active duty years and months 11 Years & 10 Months
4. --VA compensation: 100%; Spouse, 3 dependents under 18, $ 3837.89
5.--Projected or approved CRSC percentage by your service: 100%
6.--Whether you qualify for another type retirement and whether you transitioned to the blended retirement system: Not qualified
7.--Did you receive a REDUX/CSB payment? No
8.--Did you accept the Blended Retirement program option? No

Hello @Newguy5

A. 3955 (which should be the total of the highest 36 months of pay divided by 36) x 75% = 2966.25 gross retired pay
B. The amount of VA comp reduces the retired pay to zero
C. 11.83 AD years or equivalent x 2.5% = 29.58 longevity multiplier
D. 3955 x 29.58% = 1169.89 longevity portion of retired pay and CRSC maximum in the scenario you presented
E. 100% CRSC in your case is the total amount of waiver, 2966,25, but it is not what you will receive. The longevity amount prevails.

DFAS will pay: 1169.89 based on your info.
