CRSC 100%, Military Buy Back, FERS, Army Retired

I bought my military time back about 6 months before I offically retired from FERS.
I worked FERS for 8 years.
HR and ABC helped me throughout the process.
Okay so chances are you didn't pay the penalty for not buying the years within the first 2 years of starting your FERS job. The penalty isn't assessed until you hit year 3 so it technically can be almost 3 years if you pay a day before hitting the 3 year mark. If that's the case I am shocked that wan't discovered as normally OPM will calculate the interest penalty along with the original balance of 3% of your total base pay for the years you are buying back to apply to FERS.

Let us know what they are talking about regarding rolling over the 16k? I assume the withdraw means you get your 16k minus 20% penalty and lose out on buying back those years. Not sure though.

I could be wrong, but I believe a lot depends on the actual chapter of your retirement.

You can only buy back years if no military retirement, non regular retirement which is Guard or Reserves, or if retired its medical retirement with combat related unfitting conditions.

Right, which would also determine the chapter under which you retired. I just don’t recall the specific medical numbers like “35.

I worked for the government and had a discharge that was later changed to retired under an army board of corrections action and it was well after I started working for the feds. I had to look it up.

if it was retro it was probably a chapter 61 medical retirement. Was any condition found by the PEB to be combat related? If not, that's the issue. The retro retirement made those years unavailable to buy back from your military time. I think there is another exception if all the retirement income is offset by VA compensation and or CRSC.
