Criticism of Veterans Affairs Secretary Mounts Over Backlog in Claims

Who is supposed to notify you which C&P exams you need?

VA notifies you for what exams they need based on your claim that you submitted, the wait for appointments, or the exams are not a lengthy process You should have already completed these over a year ago...

Nope. I thought my initial appt in the OEF/OIF was my C&P and later told it was not. I have never been notified to do a C&P. I have seen all my specialists, will I need to go again? They have never notifited me. I have been notified to do a Gulf War physical next month. Whould I not need a C&P if I see my PCM monthly?

Please follow the link I gave you earlier.... Contact a National Service Office and Talk to a National Service Officer to assist you with your claim and represent you through the process... http://www.dav.org/veterans/NSOffices.aspx

The VA looks at your claim and decides how many appointments/exams and from what specialties.

Why the desire/need to use Wright Patterson? Tricare is widely accepted.

Personally, I would look for a Veteran Service Officer who is not contracted by the VA.

I don't know much about using Tricare for my Primary care outside of the MTF...

Ido have a question. Why is it that through IDES, the VA goes through your records and finds everything ratable, but if you were a legacy, you have to find the claimable items yourself and file?

Go to the tricare site for the region you live in. You can drill down on a list of primary care providers by zipcode. Once you find one, call the customer service line and tell them you want to change PCM. Once that is done, you make appointments and get referrals through the new PCM.

Anyone going through the IDES should not rely on someone else(VA) to find everything. I recommend everyone come up with their own list and have it available when they fill their paperwork out.

The VA wasn't involved under Legacy, but now with the IDES they are. I assume part of the reason why the VA reps help with finding claimable conditons is to save time and money. Rather than having service members file a claim for the IDES and a seperate claim after discharge (for everything not PEB related) they can reduce the workload and save time/money.

Do you have an ebenefits account? There is an appointment calendar on there that is great. You can also manage all your claims related stuff as well.
I've been locked out of my ebeenies since retiring. I used to have access through my CAC card while active duty. I have called numerous times to get it fixed. They have been mailing my info to the wrong address. I got that rectified and have yet to receive anything.

I know you have tried Amy, but this is going to be crucial to get your stuff square. I would go as far as going to the nearest VBA office and having them help. The VA is not going to go away from computer based stuff, they are running straight towards more computer based stuff.

I know it is frustrating, but you need to dig your heals in and go after it. Just throwing a guess out there that your appointment cards for C&P may have gone to that wrong address too.

Any VA CBOC can assist you with e benefits or my healthy vet web sites, but you do have to go in and verify who you are.

My VA center is the VBA for columbus and I have gone to them...

The VA has my current address, so I would hope th C&P cards were not sent there. I call the VA center monthly with updates and they have never told me C&P's were even schedualed...

I did go to the VA CBOC and they told me to call the toll free number.

Called them numerous times and they say they are mailing my new log on and password, but I have yet to receive anything even after the address was corrected. Sigh... :(

The Ebenefits site will let you change your address yourself and not count on anybody. Like I said, getting that fixed should be number one, but you do what you have to.

Good Luck

So I got a new rep, since my original one has never called me back. Nice huh?

I went to the Veteran's Memorial downtown. Have the American Legion representing me. My new rep called someone in Cleveland.

I was told that my case should have priority, since I am a medical retirement and also claiming PTSD and MST.

They said that's the way it should be but not happening.

They are working only on cases that are over 2 years old.

I was told my C&P will be scheduled for September, as they are trying to finish the over two year cases by August. So I will have my C&P at my two year mark. This whole process is ridiculous. Does anyone know how long after your C&P you receive your ratings and and your benefits? I have been working part time, but I am in bed constantly from over doing it. I feel like this process will never end, because it hasn't even started yet...

I'm still waiting. Medically retired at 60% in Oct 2011. This is beyond rediculous. I was told my C&Ps will be scheduled for September. Trying to work part-time, but my health is getting worse due to the VA changing ALL my meds after 2 years of finding out what wors for me. All to save on costs. I've lost all my relongings, have trouble making the bills, live month to month. Do they just wait for us all to die or kill ourselves?

Do they just wait for us all to die or kill ourselves?

I have heard this so many times in the last year, I'm beginning to think this is true. I use to laugh about it when someone threw that out. I recently called the VA 1-800 number and the person I talked to stated he has been waiting 6 years for his claim. He wouldn't tell me where his was but he stated Cleveland was suppose to be good. I did push for his info but I'm thinking he is most likely fighting the wait for getting an appeal, don't know.

The VA claimed they didn't have enough info on my left knee and have been waiting for more info. It had a completion date of July 2013 but that had changed. My new completion date is Jan through June of 2014. I just keeping telling myself that Cleveland is suppose to be good.

Are you feeling the love yet?
