Feb 26 2025- Submitted Claims
March-Apr 5 2025- VA Exams (3 total)
May 29 2025- local MEB complete
June 4 2025- First myFSS email, claim sent to VA
July 30 2025- Calim closed on VA App

As of today, no contact from PEBLO/ AFPC with ratings. I see a lot of cases where members get their ratings 1-2 days after their claim closes, hopefully mine comes soon. Any insight out there?

Call the VA 1-800-827-1000 and press 0 until you talk to an agent. Then ask them if they can send you your decision letter to your email.

As of Aug 15th, still no word from USAF.
you can look at what the VA rated you for the condition(s) your getting MEB'd for to get a best guess in the VA letter they emailed you.

For example. You get a 100% from the VA Yippie! But your med board is for PTSD.

They rated PTSD at 50%

Sleep apnea at 30%
Arthritis in knee at 30%
Arthritis in both ankles at 40%
Arthritis in both wrists at 20%
Tinnitus at 10%
sinusitis at 30%
Rhinitis at 10%
and unspecified back pain at 10%

All together your VA rating is 100%... but the DOD only cares about the conditions you get med boarded for. For a a Informal PEB they mostly just copy the VA's work. So thats how you can possibly predict what your DOD % is. In the case above, 100% VA / 50% DOD (and possible TDRL).

BUT if your rating is the case instead of:

They rated PTSD at 10%
Sleep apnea at 30%
Arthritis in knee at 50%
Arthritis in both ankles at 60%

Arthritis in both wrists at 20%
Tinnitus at 10%
sinusitis at 30%
Rhinitis at 10%
and unspecified back pain at 10%

Then you want to talk to the wounded warrior project immediately and get a lawyer cause chances are, in the case above your rating will be 100%VA / 10%DOD. So you may wanna consider adding the arthritis conditions to your MEB (since their so debilitating) OR just go to a formal board and get just the PTSD rated higher. Just because the VA gave you 100% doesn't mean that your IPEB will for certain go well. I would defiantly check that notification letter and prepare, or sit back and relax as needed.

Hi thanks for the reply, the VA actually sent the breakdown and total proposed rating. I saw my referred conditions rated at 30 and 10 percent. 100 percent VA. Hopefully the DoD gets rated correctly when I do get the results from my PEBLO.

I'm assuming that's 2 MEB conditions rated at 10% and 30% each. So ideally the minimum 30% you need to medically retire.
So if IPEB comes back with anything less than 30 you know you should fight it. So until then I'd just sit back and relax. Based on what you said, your set for that medical retirement, it's looking good!

Correct, it's 2 MEB conditions rated at 10% and 30% each.

Update, the VA did not rate one of my MEB conditions. PEB sent it back to the VA to grant a rating. Apparently I am being MEB'd for a 3rd condition. No telling how long this is going to take. Anyone with an experience like this?

Still no orders as of 9/3. Looks like my request of 9/10 DOS won’t be happening. Hanging in there though!
