Compensation computation

Possibly is because it depends on what is considered combat related or not. If your 100% disability is combat related, plus another additional 60% worth of combat related, then the SMC-S is also combat related. If the reproductive organ problem is combat related, so will the SMC-K. It all depends on the underlying condition(s) being combat related or not.

I finally got through to the CRSC bracnch...They told me that the SMC rate at the VA has nothing to do with the CRSC from the Army...Meaning I will get more in CRSC from the army...they will include my SMC in the equation....The reason is that when you are medically retired everything from the VA is waived from your military retirement....for example if you where getting $4000 a month from Army retirement and $3200 from VA(100%) and additional $500 from SMC...you would only receive $300 from army and $3700 from VA...army retirement($4000)-VA waiver ($3700)=$300...In other words if they didnt include the SMC your CRSC will be lower based on just your 100% which is $3200 in this example...by the way they send me the crsc calculator which is in microsoft excel

Indeed, good deal; can you PM the CRSC calculator to me also? Thanks!

Thus, I often comment that "possessing well-informed is truly a powerful equalizer!"

Best Wishes!

I am curious because if they dont use the SMC award you would get less of your pay from DOD....The SMC, I am receiving now is not because of combat-related...it is because I have one disability that is 100% and multiple disabilies that is 60% or more SMC(s) and SMC(k)..I dont like the word possibly...that means it is not a concrete answer..what is your thoughts.
CSM, did you ever get clarification on SMC? I am also eligible for the SMC - S1 criteria, but also eligible for CRSC. Can you get both?

CRSC is capped, so they can grant 100%, but what they pay for it is likely capped lower.

so base pay is 3000, 12 years of service, CRSC of 90%, VA of 100%.
VA at 2kish (cap at VA table for the CRSC %).
LOS retirement at 1000.

CRSC cap payment is 1000,

I am fairly certain that if over 20 years of service they can cap the payment at disability % instead of LOS %.

That's the way I read the FMR anyway. Its not 100% straight forward, primarily due to CRSC being changed 3 times, so it can depend on when you become eligible for it.
