Central Auditory Processing Disorder (CAPD)

Aloha all,

I am almost thru my MEB/PED/IDES after just over 2 years. I am having issues finding a rating for CAPD. I find zero info on it in the VA rating manual. I found 2 appeals that were filed regarding it and no real answers. The VA denied me for hearing loss, DUH, I can HEAR correctly, I can not process the sounds. Since this is a HUGE factor in my daily life and I am sure many others how can it not have a rating?

Has anyone found one or can anyone point me to any other resources to further investigate??

I found a BVA case similar your situation. The case was won under "loss of bilateral acoustic reflexes, also claimed as audio dyslexia" http://www.va.gov/vetapp03/Files/0300474.txt
 
Yes that is one that I found as well. I have the loss of movement on one side as they used in their claim. However, this condition is rampant especially with TBI cases and there just HAS to be more somewhere... While I realize that case has some similarities I am more looking to get the condition recognized as the brain damage that it is.. It has a professional diagnosis and has for years.

It is good to know we both found the same thing tho!
 
Even though this is an old thread, I would like to share some information about CAPD. People who are suffering from CAPD has normal hearing but they have difficulty in the reception and interpretation of auditory information. They might have difficulty in understanding speech and degraded quality sounds. Here is an article which helps you to find out whether you are suffering from CAPD. Hope this helps.
