I just received a certified letter that I am going to be referred to the MEB process for my PTSD. However, I am also in my 12 year window and have enrolled in the BRS retirement program, which for an army national guard member allows me to get a bonus of 4x monthly pay in exchange for a 4 year service obligation. As an O-3 this is a lot of money and I don’t want to leave it on the table, but I don’t know if it had the potential to affect my MEB process? I also don’t want to stay in the military.
If I take the money and get medically retired will I get to keep it? This is a new program so I am unable to find much info.
