So i was recently diagnosed with Bipolar 2 disorder and have been put on lamotrigine which is an anti convlusant. My behavior health specialist tried to send me to the hospital but because i was not suicidal at the time it did not go through. I have a profile that limits my ability to go to the field and handle weapons, and due to the fact that i am in a combat arms MOS this seems problematic though they have not initiated a medboard yet. Is there any way i could expedite this process and initiate because i worry my condition is only going to get worse as time continues

Is your behavior health specialist Army or private? Your primary care manager is the one to refer you. Also, if your profile is expected to last a year or longer your commander can request a Fit for Duty exam. That would be another way to be evaluated. From there you could get referred to IDES. As you can see either way medical such as your PCM holds all the cards about when they think you have met the MRDP and should be referred to IDES.
I'm sorry to hear you are struggling. When I read the sentence above, I got stuck on the "not suicidal at the time...." It sounds like you need to call you provider and talk about how you are feeling at this time. Don't stop asking for help. It was the right thing to do then and it is the right thing now. Call your provider ASAP.

I was diagnosed with this while on AD. My doctors referred me for a medboard instead of putting me on Limited Duty which eventually after a certain amount of time would auto refer you to a med board. Talk to your doctors. They are the ones who can refer you for the medboard.
